    Installing new rode and chain

The soak in water is just what the manufacture recommends for the 8 plat rode, think to make it lay better. If your using 3 strand then its not required that I know of I had a maxwell 500 on my formula with all chain, was a great windlass The Maxwell manual says after attaching rode in locker...

    Installing new rode and chain

Would first need to know what windlass model? There are several types. If it uses 8 plat then the rode needs to be soaked in water for 24 hours before install Most require end of rode to be attached inside locker, then use windlass to feed rode in

SB engine died on way out, fuel pump?

Could use a serial number to verify but pretty sure a 2000 should be a MEFI-3 MPI On top the motor look for small square relays next to the ECM. Next to relays will also be a fuse container, about 1.5 high by 3 inch long and kind of thin. The bottom will have wires coming out and the top of it...

When key is turned ON before start do you get 2 beeps and hear the fuel pump run? With it just dying, might check the ignition fuse/breaker.

MerCruiser 5.0 (Carb Engine) will not turn, what is this part?

Don't use a wrench on the crank bolt, it can be snapped off doing it. Turn motor over using the pulley and or belts Assuming this is a stern drive I/O, the port side rear of a 5.0 is where the oil pressure sensor and oil filter remote is attached. It motor is EFI then there can also be a fuel...
