    towing - engine in neutral?

I stand by my statement........power loading is only a problem on poorly designed or poorly supported boating infrastructure. It's just not an issue around here. Saltwater boating is big business. As such, most facilities that cater to said boaters have upgraded their ramps to accommodate...

What accurate humidity level in full basement stops all mold ?

Depends on your "normal" humidity levels.... Don't go too low or your wood floors and furniture will suffer the consequences. I set my humidifier to 50% in the winter and still see some separation in the furniture and floors. Then again, normal humidify for us in the summer is 80-100%

Cant get new boat to plan out

Explain how you’re trying to get on play. Planing is a function of boat speed, not rpm. Are you mashing the throttle slowly adding throttle? You mined to get the hull up and over the bow wake to plane. You are propped correctly if you can hit 6k

Rust, generally how to clean and best spray to keep it from rusting?

What most don’t realize is that a layer of iron oxide (grey color) is produced in the steel making process. Unless the material is pickled to remove this oxide layer in a downstream process, the layer remains intact until removed. While iron oxide is a decent corrosion barrier in itself, it...

Rust, generally how to clean and best spray to keep it from rusting?

Sand blast then prime with Sherwin Williams P60G2 wash primer. Then top coat with Sherwin Williams Polane T in the color of your choosing. The paint job will out last the trailer

    Parking boat in driveway

We’re on a 28 acres on a dead end road. On the edge of civilization when we moved out here many moons ago. The house is at the top of the hill surrounded by woods and fields. As such, we have a very long drive that apparently leads to “nowhere” given the number of people the end up at the house...

    Help with bow roller setup

My last three trailers utilized bow stops. Given the design of the mounting bracket, I wouldn’t be surprised if the trailer originally had a Y-bow stop instead of a roller.

    Nobody fishing?

Blue bird day…. Not much for fishing but a great day for hanging at the beach with a cooler of my favorite adult beverages

Where would you rather fish the 3rd week in October

Ya…I can catch all the mahi and smallish tuna I want on my boat. More interested in large tuna and billfish. Heard the striped marlin bite can be off the hook

Anyone know of a Honda Grass trimmer dealer with good prices?

The best trimmer I’ve ever owned is a Shindiawa 22T Bought new in late 90’s. Maintain 30 acres with it. Still starts on the third pull. No problem swinging a brush cutter.

    Difference Between VHF Antennas

The difference is the build quality. The 5101 is entry level construction. The 5102 is a step up in material and build quality. Got tired of replacing antennas every couple of years and bought a 5225-XT. Much better build quality overall

    1st Boat

The Trophy build quality is bad. A “high tech” motor from a now defunct company is a “no go” for me

I will guarantee you 304 and 18-8 will “rust” in the presence of saltwater within weeks of installation.

    Trailer Bunk Lag Screws

Stainless steels are classified into four main families: ferritic, martensitic, austenitic, and duplex, with duplex stainless steels being combinations of the first three types, such as martensitic-ferritic or austenitic-martensitic. Hint…some are magnetic by design. Most “high strength”...

    Trailer Bunk Lag Screws

There are currently over 1,000 different alloys of "stainless steel" in production with varying degrees of suitability for use in the marine environment. Do you know what grade you installed? Grades of stainless suitable for marine use are primarily 316 and 316L. Not readily available at big...

    Seeing 360 Flasher on Fishfinder

It’s possible to see a lure given the right circumstances, but I have a very hard time believing you’re seeing braided line on a 480x320 conventional sonar display. The display resolution isn’t high enough nor is the beam frequency (77/200) high enough to detect an object 0.010” in diameter

    Rigging flange

Never seen anything close to that size. Got to be pushing 6” OD at that point

Does the antifreeze you use really matter?

Enough to make your head spin. Glad I own outboards........ Back before I saw the light, other than the 1st year when I pulled the thermostat housing and poured a bunch of anti-freeze in the motor, I simply pulled the drain plugs (block) and let it drain on the way home from fishing once temps...
