Newer Mercruiser Cooling System Questions . . .

@Scott Danforth Any help on my crossover question. What does it do? Sort of looks like a junction box for cooling  I assume that this is a new(er) thing for I/O engines ?

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

Yes, but if I ever get into that situation, maybe it is worth a conversion to outboards :ROFLMAO:

    Next project. Free boat.

Run your stringers to the transom and provide a hole/cut-out next to the hull so they drain. Your current approach will make the structure weaker than it should be.

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

Yes, it crosses to a NAPA 7099 and a Wix 57099, and a whole bunch of others. Of course I already ordered the pricey high efficiency filters, but will see about next year.

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

Yes, which means I am probably trapped into buying Mercury parts rather than aftermarket for a lot of stuff, but I will see how that goes. Everything is digital on these engines (it seems) and more pricey.

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

Thank You (y) :D I downloaded a bunch of the parts lists for things I will probably need to service. It is interesting that many of the engine supply retailers have not listed the engine S/N and parts list on their websites (yet) . . . the engines have been in production for about 6 years now.

Somber news for iboats forums members.

RIP Don. I always enjoyed the discussions I had with him over the years.

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

I think I found something . . . it happened to be on a French website, but it is the USA parts diagram & listing. FWIW - the oil filter is spec'd in the parts list as a 35-866340K01, which is about $10. The ones on the engine are 35-858004Q, which are the 'High Efficiency' oil filters at $20...

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

The best/closest listing I have found is for the '377 MAG' engine, but it may be hit-or-miss, since the engine serial number does not come up on any of the searches.

Where to find parts lists, diagrams, etc for Newer Mercruisers

Greetings, I have been searching the Internet for Mercruiser part webistes (iBoats, Mercruiserparts, MarineEngine, PerfProTech, etc.) and my newer (2016 ish) Mercruiser Engine is not listed. I have the Mercruiser Service Manual for the engines, but they don't list part numbers. ...

Newer Mercruiser Cooling System Questions . . .

Greetings, Pre-season prep work is just around the corner and I am reviewing the closed cooling systems on my new-fangled Mercruiser engines. (2016 6.2 SeaCore models S/N' in my signature) 1) These engines have a 'poppet' valve, which are a new 'thing' to me. I believe poppet valves are more...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

The armrests are done . . . :D Here is a picture . . . after doing 3 of them, I figured out how to get the covers, which are skin tight, on effectively. Some steam and some silicone spray. Slides right on. (y) . . i decided that the first one I made is OK . . . not worth re-making...

Mercruiser Catalyst Manifolds are Lifetime / No replacement necessary

Here are some pictures of the CAT Exhaust of my Merc's . . . They are Seacore 6.2/350 HP 2016 vintage. (S/N's in signature) . . The manifold/CAT portion is part of the closed cooling system. The elbow/riser at the end of it is the portion that is (and has been) exposed to sea water. . . I...

    Rec gas prices???

Yes, you'll have to wait until more fuel efficient cars get to the aftermarket. I bought a 2015 BMW 5 Series Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) back in 2019. It has a 2.0 litre bi-turbo. I'm able to get better mileage than my prior C230, which was a 2006 model. The Admiral's car (Explorer) has the...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Another 'trick' that I've come up with and thought to share with those who also do upholstery . . . Some areas of a skin/cover are subject to a bit of stretching during installation, usually in the areas of wrap-around corners. Since the thread is PTFE (ie Teflon) is is prone to slipping at...

    Tahoe boat

Not really . . . they are economy minded boats (aka as cheap). They have their place in the boat market as do some other economy brands (Bayliner, etc). You can search the Internet for discussions about Tahoe boats and decide. If you are looking for something that will be trouble-free, you...

Water in fuel, how to restart engine on good gas

I would try to get clean fuel with some SeaFoam (or even dry gas) added running through the carbs . . . maybe only a gallon or 2. I would not take the carbs apart unless they are not running well after the fuel treatment.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I've done some re-engineering of the vinyl panels for the armrest, in hopes of getting the more precise fit that is needed. . I thought to cut down the original vinyl skins that I'm using as a template to the outline of the original stitching, then trace that onto the new material patterns...

    Rec gas prices???

I used to do a 55 mile (one-way) commute . . . my car would avg. about 28 mpg, so 4 gallons /day. Then I also did some travel during the day between our various locations, which was reimbursed. Even worse than the gasoline cost was putting over 100K miles on my car in about 3 years. :eek...
