Male and female rubber boots, tool and steel pins that wires get crimped in.

Proper terminology would help….. Your looking for a (amphenol) ) connector (boot) with pins (little steel leads) and pin insertion tool (tool to push steel pins through boot) Connector part number can be found on your motor’s parts list

Need help with converting MSD toilet to just portable, carry off and dump.

Kids only need to go to the bathroom after you leave the dock ;) Cleaning out a portable head a couple of times in the middle of summer will have you wishing you left well enough alone....lol After putting the "if you use it, you clean it rule" into effect, its strange how the kids no longer...

    Vinyl curtain shrinking.

The materials expand and contract with temperature. My enclosure side covers are roughly 36 x 48 inches. Doing the math, they grow/shrink roughly 0.20" between 40°F and 100°F. Ideally one would fit the covers at 70°F to split the difference.

    Vinyl curtain shrinking.

Not out of time but from the cold. My last boat had a bimini. Used to store the curtains in the truck for the ride down to launch. The warmth helped tremendously to snap and zip at launch.

The #6k aluminum bunk trailer under my 226 Grady is #1430. The steel roller trailer it replaced was ~#200 heavier

    Penn or Cannon?

Got me on the switches…. The only electric feature I use is “short stop”. An auto retrieve function that stops the ball at the surface since rough seas, gelcoat and #20 balls don’t play well together

    Transom straps

You have to watch how the components are rated when selecting winch and tie downs. Breaking strength, safe working load (SWL) and working load limit (WLL), as well as a few others, are all quoted in winch and tie down component specifications. While breaking strength is straight forward...

DVA adapter vs DVA analog meter for sensor and coil wire testing

Sounds like you’re confused as to what is going on. You’re dealing with a capacitor discharge system. Voltage is built up in a capacitor then collapsed (discharged) and the process starts over again. As such, you’re dealing with pulsed AC similar to the trace shown below. Note the duration...

Fuel injected parts no longer available

Rebuilding a quadrajet is a lot more work than ordering as new small engine carb off Amazon for $20-30 I have yet to “scrap” a single machine from NLA issues. Parts are easy to source if you know how and where to look Got tired of running up to Autozone working on my daughter’s cars. Bought a...

Fuel injected parts no longer available

Same reason Garmin and Lowrance support the same third party transducers yet are not interchangeable (w/o break out box) due to the use of different connectors. Slowly seeing that nonsense go away as more and more components move to the NMEA 2000 standard

Fuel injected parts no longer available

While I can’t argue there are more possible points of failure if you count wiring, I have not owned or messed with carbureted engines, other than lawn equipment and two old outboards i own in almost 40 years. Bottom line, they take two completely different skill sets to support. With my...

Cant say much, under NDA, but it’s none of the above with supposedly better corrosion properties than even 316L

Fuel injected parts no longer available

Bear in mind that large OEMs make very few of the parts in their assemblies. NLA in most cases doesn’t mean a replacement part is no longer in production. It means that the OEM no longer stocks or carries the part in question for one reason or another. Typically parts with low turnover rates and...

    Tree sap on cover

What kind of oak tree? Live under a canopy of a mix of mature chestnut, red and white oaks. Never had an issue with sap As noted above, I live in the woods. Couldn’t keep a sun-brella type cover more than a year or two before the organic material (leaf mold, etc.) falling from the trees...

Repacing a Garmin 451s and the 200/50 transducer?
