Smell from head / cabin area

Bleach seemed to work well. I did a mix of water and bleach down the toilet and flushed it into the tank. I then continued to do water to flush the lines after letting the bleach sit for a couple of minutes. I repeated this process for about 10 minutes total. I then went to the stern and poured...

Smell from head / cabin area

I was just looking into this earlier this morning! Last night I put about 5 gallons of water from a garden hose into the toilet and pumped it into the holding tank in case there were any chemicals, etc. that were in the toilet. I'll pump that out and then try your beach method.! My next...

Smell from head / cabin area

I'm wondering if the odor eater is the thing. I see 2 containers of it in the head area. Is there some reasonable way to "flush" the system?

Smell from head / cabin area

Enclosed head (Maxum 2400 SCR). Maybe floral isn't the correct word, but think Febreze or something like that. Essentially it is something meant to smell good, but smells like it might be masking something bad and my assumption is that it is from the whole head system. Because I've never...

Smell from head / cabin area

My new (to me) cuddy cabin has a smell coming from the cabin area. I cannot pinpoint it but I would guess it is coming from the head. The smell is strong "good" (floral?) fragrance that is overwhelming and somewhat chemical but it seems like it may be masking a bad smell that I can't quite...

Great tips. Thank you! And yes... Discovery Park is getting very bad...

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

I really appreciate that information! I'm from Carmichael, but we often launch at Discovery park and typically go north to Swabbies / Alamar, but I'd like to start heading south to Rio Vista. That will be there I start as far as my first "long" trip. I didn't know the Rio Vista area could get...

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

I will be taking it very slow. This may not even be this year, I may do it next year after I get very comfortable with my new (to me) boat. I have 3 batteries: 2 house and 1 starter. I need to get a kicker and that would be absolutely mandoritory along with probably some other precautions...

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

Roughly 75-100+ miles each way depending upon how far I'd want to go. I actually have a shorter trip (50 miles) which doesn't quite get to the salty water and I'll be starting there to learn what I don't know regarding going longer distances and navigating larger waters. I'll progressively go...

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

Just purchased a Maxum 2400 SCR. (single engine 5.0 with Mercruiser Alpha 1). I've always stayed within rivers / lakes, but have never traveled out into larger waters. With my new larger boat, I'd like push some limits of what I'm used to. Is there anything I should be concerned about with...

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

I actually do have an inverter and from what I understand it is pretty beefy (I don't recall the specs and my boat is currently in storage). It is hooked up to 2 batteries which function as the house batteries. I have a 3rd battery which is strictly for starting (but for some reason actually...

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

Interesting... So essentially it is a slightly upgraded bayliner. I've always avoided bayliners (perhaps just something I heard along the way). On the opposite end of things, I have also heard that Sea Rays are great. Well, I bought it last week. Now I have much to learn about the new...

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

I appreciate everyone's help and comments. It looks like the boat may be overweight for my towing setup which is the next problem I need to solve... How deep down the rabbit hole does one go to get a boat?

    Towing more than capacity?

This is a question coming from complete ignorance regarding towing larger boats. I currently have a 19' boat. It was my first boat ever and my first time towing ever. 12 years later, I'm plenty comfortable with towing, but that said I had never checked "if" I could tow from a capacity...

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

Looking to buy a 1998 Maxum 2400 SCR in immaculate condition. Polished gel coat, swim deck, inverter, carpet is in perfect condition, always stored indoors. 288 original hours. Comes with Garmin GPS & tandem axle trailer with 4 disc brakes, all new tires including the spare. Trailer is in...

    Ease of towing larger boat

Thanks all for the feedback! This definitely gave me some things to think about that I hadn't before. While I still think that I want to tow it back and forth from my indoor storage location vs put it in a slip, I have more to chew on now.

    Ease of towing larger boat

This is a bit of an open ended question, but hoping to find some loose guidance and direction. My wife and I own a 19ft ~4000 lbs boat. I tow it with my 2007 Lincoln Navigator without issue and I'm comfortable with it. We're looking at selling our boat and we have our eyes on something larger...

Yamaha stern drive trim / tilt leak

For anyone who finds this thread in the future: The issue was simply needing to remove the lines from the pump, ensure everything was clean and while reinstalling the lines, I made sure to take the pressure off of the nut by positioning the line in some sort of neutral relative position so it...

Yamaha stern drive trim / tilt leak

Thanks Bondo! When you say look for damage, are you thinking on the line itself or within the pumps receiving end? I'm not sure what I'd be looking for. Would that be repairable? This is one (of the few) areas of this boat I have never become familiar with.
