1990 Force 120HP B model cannot seem to find the issue with sporadic no start

So I took it to the lake again yesterday and at first it was ok at idle in gear I even adjusted it at 750rpm. After driving it for awhile though it started dying in gear again. If I put it in gear quick and push it forward passed a certain point it stays but if I just click it in gear and leave...

1990 Force 120HP B model cannot seem to find the issue with sporadic no start

Another picture of the plugs. Do it ran great for awhile and then it suddenly stopped, it would stary right up but sometimes there was a bit of backfire when cranking. I did start it a few 10 times and it seems to be ok now. I was like wtf this is new. So I raised the front of the boat more and...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

So I got all the parts and put the exhaust cover back with the new separstionplate, straight enough cover, and gaskets plus sealant between it all. I even bought new stainless bolts and some washers. I also changed the power head with another one that is a little straighter and no damage inside...

    Force 120hp won't start

Like I said I had gas coming out and the bulb was getting hard also. But if the needle seat is dirty or gummed up it spits the gas through the neck. Look to see what type of seats you have whether they have rubber in them or the needle has a rubber tip. The gas is supposed to go one way. If...

    Force 120hp won't start

This is probably your problem. Gas is supposed to go one way only, sacked in the cylinders. You have to figure out why. Also a gummed up carb at the needle, bad needle and seat that is not closing 100%, timing going out for different reasons like bad key at the flywheel, coils firing badly it...

    Force 120hp won't start

I had gas come out of one set of carbs in the beginning. The float is either broken or out of adjustment but usually you see gas come out of different holes when you prime it. If it comes out when you have the engine on it could be the reeds but also the floats. My reeds are stainless so never...

    Force 120hp won't start

I think what I read was when breaking in new piston rings to lower the timing temporarely.

    Force 120hp won't start

Yes you move the remote handle all the way and that os woot. bypass the neutral switch take out the plugs ground the cables and read the timing it should he 28. That is the cranking timing. If you don't have a fuel problem you wither have a conpressionproblem or a spark problem. Stator and/or...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

yeah those bolts were from the exhaust cover. It was warped ajd I assume that caused the bolts to not completely torque it. That's why it probably leaked in the cylinders and also the right side bolts showed rust. I will probably be using the blue loctite to make sure they stay put. The cover is...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

Did you ever change the spark plug wires on a 120hp force. The are built in the coil so only the end of the part that goes onto the spark plug can be messed with? Any suggestions on where to buy the ends and clips. I assume there is no soldering involved just crimp the new fitting to the wire...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

I have the one where you wrap the yellow wire around the number one spark plug wire. I had to go through the settings to choose the right option that reads the number of sparks during one revolution per my 4cyl motor and I chose 4x1 being a 4 cyl one spark per cylinder(fires 4 per stroke or...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

On the 19s with a leaky exhaust cover and separation plate it was 4200 for the leaking engine and 4400 for the other. 38mph on the lake.

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

The lower RPM is on both engines. With the rebuilt one having the water leak at the exhaust cover to #3 and #4, I am sure it didn't help things. They seem to run off each othere the twins. So even though one is bogging a bit the other will compensate and help it. The drive is fully rebuilt, it...

    Force 120hp won't start

Air fuel water leak and spark are pretty much the culprits. Too little or too much of any of it except for water which should not be there. I had a fully rebuilt engine too, but a water leak triggered all kinds of things to get changed, like stator, trigger, carbs gaskets and intake gaskets...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

Anybody have any idea where to find props that fit the 4in gear box? Everything out thwre is for 4.25 drives. I have 13x19 turning point and want to go lower to a 17 or 15. I bought 2,13.5 x15 and they are too large for the inside of the drive by .20 or so. Can they be grinded to fit? That's the...

    Force 120hp won't start

I don't know what you repaired as of yet but hard to start is either gas supply, weak spark, could he other things also, carb adjustment, float and choke , bad timing, etc. But fuel supply is the first.

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

So using the throttle only function and pushing it all tye way briefly in your little tank out of gear you only get 1600RPM? I don't know if that is any better then 1200 in gear on the lake. Kind of the same. You shouldstick an endoscope camera after running it and look at tye pistons to see if...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

I think you can remove the gear engaging cable and try to put it in your tank at idle and accelerate without going in gear briefly to see if it goes up in RPM. I had the same issue in the parking hose it ran great in the lake it would die in gear unless I set RPM screw at max. Went there3 or 4...
