    Rail repair

Don’t repair. You replace Hopefully it’s a bolt together rail. Just replace the bent support. Otherwise you replace the entire rail or live with it

    chesapeake blue angels

You made the right decision… As an avid fisherman, I’ve been plying the open waters of the Chesapeake going on 45 years. Even with all my skill and experience, I would not make that trip on a pontoon boat. Far too many scenarios where a pontoon is totally inadequate for the conditions.

    Merc Fuel Lines

Marine hose is fire rated. Automotive hoses are not. Once inside the motor housing, you can use whatever you can find While worm drive clamps will work in a pinch on the larger hoses, they are notorious for vacuum leaks. Proper tie wraps clamps are the only way to go with the spaghetti...

ECM Swap ? Plug and play ???

At issue is not the technology or cost, it’s the skill sets required to support them. It’s gone from turning wrenches to plugging in a laptop. The younger guys at work are constantly making performance modifications to their cars. With that knowledge, they too are only limited by budget I can...

225 mercury saltwater temperature rising after shut off

Peeing isn’t a good indication of internal flow. Some are plumbed separately from the cooling loop Increasing temp at shut off would point to a “hot spot” within the cooling circuit. Check the poppit valve

Minn Kota Trolling Motor Faulty switch or coil?

Glad you sorted it out. For giggles, check continuity through the switch from the power input terminal to the other terminals. Has to be something on the input side of the switch. Only point of failure common between the speed outputs

Minn Kota Trolling Motor Faulty switch or coil?

DC circuits are problematic to troubleshoot in that current takes the path of least resistance to ground, to the point that it will back feed to ground through other circuits. You can not verify component integrity with the components still in the system and powered up. They must be isolated...

    One battery losing power

When was the last time the batteries loaded tested? Disconnect the batteries from each other and test independently. A fully charged 12 volt battery should measure roughly 12.7 volts. A battery is considered dead at 12 volts

Minn Kota Trolling Motor Faulty switch or coil?

Proves nothing…. Simple selector switch. The odds of all 5 contacts being bad is next to zero. Did you check continuity between C terminal and the other 4 speed contacts? If that checks there is nothing wrong with the switch. What voltage do you get between C terminal and ground!

Minn Kota Trolling Motor Faulty switch or coil?

Looking at the schematic you have a switch and a “speed coil” in the circuit. No functional description of the coil but it feeds what appears to be a simple speed selector switch. Terminal C is the incoming power to the switch from the speed coil. Check incoming power then check for...

    OX- 66 - 2 stroke - 250 Yamaha , Think I have fuel issue after filter change ?

Trapped air can be problematic when changing the separating filter. Some people fill the bowl with gas prior to installation, but that can be dangerous and messy. When changing the filter I run the motor for a bit to fill the carbs with fuel. I then change the filter and start the motor again...

    Burned boat and insurance offer

If it's the 1996 boat and motor listed in your profile you are not going to be happy with the book value assigned to the boat. Assuming you have insurance on the boat, I'd submit a claim to your insurance and let them argue it out Good argument for the need of an Agreed Value policy on an...
