    Transducer placement

Basic sounder. You would be Ok anywhere outside the radius of the prop

    Transducer placement

A right side rotating prop pulls water into the prop and pushes it downwards The left side of the prop is pushing water up and outwards….and into the transducer I always keep my prop 2-3” outside the radius of the prop Does the unit have side scan function? If so, you will probably need to...

    Outboard Mounting Height

Every hull reacts different to a bracket. What boat are you working with? Generally speaking If the motor is falling flat it’s too low If you’re blowing out the prop is too high.

The app I attached is based of real time buoy data at specific locations. The other sources are useless generalizations for a body of water as dynamic as the Bay. The marine forecast broadcast is pretty good but that too can be flawed based on generalities. Tide changes direction basically...

    Mini Excavators

A friend used his mini excavator to dig the water lines from the house out to the barns. Roughly 24” deep, 14” wide by 250 ft. long. Took 2 full days. Wasn’t impressed with the equipment. I used the front end loader on my tractor to push gravel. Use a drag hallow to smooth it out.

High tide is 9:58 am followed with a 4:30pm low so you’re running against a 3-4 kt. tide going both directs. . Your fuel consumption with be considerably more than your “calm lake” scenario and your speed will be compromised as well. Personally, wouldn’t attempt a 70 mile open water excursion...

Best method to drill out a broken off bolt

In this case, I would use a transfer punch to center the hole then start with something like a 1/16” drill then bump up to 1/8” and so forth. I drill until most the meat has been removed then try an easy out. If they doesn’t work, I drill with a tap drill and run a tap down to clear the threads

Joppatowne to Annapolis is a hoof at 10 kts. The bar on the north side of the Severn up to sandy Sandy Point gets rough on tide changes. Watch for (big) boats cutting the corner going into the Severn

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Couldn’t pay me to install lithium ion on a boat. Have seen two melt down in lap tops in the past 3 weeks. Dakota batteries have support/supply chain issues..ie Chinese components https://www.bbb.org/us/wa/seattle/profile/batteries/dakota-lithium-batteries-1296-1000109953/complaints

    Switch for trolling motor source?

I suspect your charger is the problem. Both batteries fully charged? Dual bank charger? Lift the charger off one battery to see what happens

    does anyone know?

Acceptably to who? Professional Boat Builder doesn’t seem to think so. https://www.proboat.com/2012/07/beware-the-brass Have 9 thru hulls, 4 of which are below the water line, plus 2 seacocks and a garboard plug on my boat… all bronze. Ten wrongs don’t make a right

    does anyone know?

No brass on a boat. Bronze only Brass is roughly 34% zinc. Will be eaten away the same as your zinc anode. Bronze is alloyed with tin.

Livewells filling with water not hooked up or turned on

My fish box and bait well both drain directly overboard. Don’t want that stinky stuff in the bilge When not in use, the sea **** on the pump intake(s) should be closed to prevent the flow of water into the boat.

Long Beach WA / Astoria, OR area Boat ramps?

Interesting claim. I had to look it up knowing that Hatteras island NC has 50 miles of Atlantic beaches https://www.pacific-coast-highway-travel.com/Longest-Beach-in-the-USA.html

    Humminbird bird monitor

What you want to do can’t be done. Not only do you need a second video driver, you also need a means to support the HMI interface between the two units. The best you could do is connect two units via NMEA 2000 network

    Blige pump problem!

A good argument for not using an “automotive” starting battery on a boat. A Marine starting (dual purpose) battery is a much better choice. FWIW: He is using a solar rated battery. I use the same battery in my solar powered electric fence installations. Get about 2 years out of a battery...

    Blige pump problem!

Volts x Amps = Watts 12 x 7.2 = 86.4 Watts Are you sure about that? Most "auto-sensing" pumps cycle a small detection circuit every so often. Rule pumps cycle (1.2 mA) every 2.5 minutes looking for the presence of water. And we would be correct. Conventional flooded acid batteries are not...

    Blige pump problem!

3A = 38 Watts per minute of run time 12V, 7.2 AH = 92 watts of battery capacity Battery provides 2.4 minutes of run time Auto sensing runs the pump for X duration, every X minutes. How much current is used per cycle and how often is the pump "sensing? Your battery is way undersized for the...

Solar pool heater water flow question(s)

100' of 100 psi, black HDPE pipe total. Figure 50 to 60' in the coil. Bear in mind the temp rating is at rated pressure. Open ended flow has no pressure, thus irreverent for this exercise, unless you exceed melting point of the pipe ;)
