    Trailer weight distribution question

I think the main question of this thread was about the ability to increase tongue weight by making a change in the axle position, since the boat position did not have much, if any, room for adjustment. The OP subsequently indicated that there was 108 lbs of tongue weight without the boat and...

Riser Extension Blocks - Full Closed Cooling ???

Update . . . I finally pulled the riser/elbows on the starboard engine to finish the exhaust connections. All set . . . (y) Note to self: Always assemble the exhaust system from the Y-pipe upward

    Trailer weight distribution question

My rough calculations are that the CG of the boat is about 5" BEHIND the center point of the 2 axles. The axles would have to move back about 24" to get you near 10% tongue weight. Something isn't right. Is the boat abnormally stern heavy?

Welcome to iBoats :D Your level of optimism certainly indicates that this is your first boat ownership. We have heard your story many times . . . 30 year old boat Super cheap Got it from an older couple - they moved away (smart of them) Consider yourself handy Just got a few soft spots...

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

What @racerone said. Exhaust blockage. My guess is that there is some sort of blockage in/around the powerhead that begins to fill up with water. Shortly after starting the engine water reaches the area of the lower exhaust port, causing the engine to faulter. It might even be pulling a bit...

    Which prop/ is this ok?

The larger prop (14" dia) will want to move about 4% more water than the 13.75" prop., which will require about 10% more horsepower. I would expect the top RPM to drop a bit, maybe 150-200 RPM. You will have to decide if that is OK, based on where your current top RPM is vs. what the engine is...

    Engine Replacement/Upgrade

Yes, people do those sorts of things . . . You would probably need a complete 'bobtail' engine, as there would not be much, if anything that you could use from the 4.3 engine. Check out engine replacements on 'Doug Russell' and 'Michigan Motorz' websites.

99 5.0 GI Volvo Penta siezed

Welcome to iBoats . . . :D (y) "Took water into the engine compartment" . . . tell us more about that , as it could indicate damage to the transom - perhaps. Are you sure the outdrive is OK  . . . how about the transom assembly?

1988 Bravo 1 oil seal question

Not sure if you have already started into it . . . but . . . You drain down the gear lube at least a quart and then get the special tool to remove the large castle ring nut that surrounds the yoke. With a firm pull the drive shaft/bearings/gear will come out. It is going to look like this . ...

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

My family has gotten the Pfizer shot, some at least the first shot and the rest will have the second shot within the next week. There is a wide range of reactions to the shot, the second shot seems to be the most. I felt tired the day after getting the second shot, but was fine thereafter...

Interior stains - what are they and how to clean?

It may be discoloration more so than stains, which would be age related and not something that you could clean off. If the color won't come back with a vinyl cleaner or mild bleach, then you know the discolor is embedded and not on the surface (i.e. stain)

    Basic Depth Sounder - Recommendations

Update . . . As much as I was hoping to find/get a Lowrance unit . . . I ordered a Faria 'Euro' Black (kit #12851) . . . comes with "in-hull" transducer and is spec'd to 22˚ of deadrise. (all I needed is 20˚) I really did not want to open up a hole in the hull (Thru-hull transducer) or drill...

    Basic Depth Sounder - Recommendations

Update . . . My bad, I did find a Lowrance LST-3800 unit on their website. Looks like it is a transom mount transducer. Not sure if that is a better route than a thru-hull transducer. Looks like it is sold-out NLA in a lot of places . . .

    Basic Depth Sounder - Recommendations

Thanks for the input so far. Yes, it does nice fill a whole in the dash and I do have a tansom mounted depth sensor w/ my GPS. The OEM unit is a Lowrance 3500. 25 years old, and at one point it was superseded by the 3800, but that seems to be no longer  My GPS depth sounder is fine...

    Basic Depth Sounder - Recommendations

Greetings, The OEM depth sounder seems to have failed over the past few years, and it may be time to get a new one. I have been searching for the basic thru-hull transponder & gauge kit, but it seems like the products have moved away from basic to multi-function. Not lloking to spend a bunch...

@Commander_47 Don't forget your tape measure and take some measurements of the trailer: coupler -> axles distance.
