1967 MFG Sprint. Steering cable Help

It looks like the average price for the kit you need is $160.00 plus the freight. The only thing which may cause an installation problem is the way the engine end attaches to the tube. The new cables have a female nut that threads on to the tube where your old cable has a male thread. Years ago...

There is a “O” ring between the lower gear case and the intermediate housing. It seals the water passage where the lower swivels for steering. All you need to change it is some allen wrenches. Strange starter issue.

Starter drives are easy to replace, buy a new one, not a rebuilt one. Rebuilt starters usually have rebuilt drives.

    Strange starter issue.

Since you suspect the harness connection then the only alternative other than replacing both the engine and instrument panel to engine harness is to cut the male&female connections and replace them with a terminal board with ring terminals.

Trick to get alternator belt off on the water 3.0l mercruiser

2XS with Bondo. If the belt is wearing out then be sure to clean the flame arrestor because that will get clogged up from belt dust. If the crankshaft, water pump or alternator pulleys are rusted that can be the problem.

    Slow crank

To set the dwell I do it with the plugs out and the coil wire grounded. I also like to set the timing with the spark plugs on the wires but grounded on the manifold. That way you do not have to keep starting the engine.
