I have the same bronze on bronze drain plug. Saltwater use. Plug removed once a year at best. Can’t forget to put it in if you never take it out ;) Liberal use of a quality water proof, marine grease protects from corrosion

Do I have a bad starter?

Chances are pretty good you have a burnt winding or worst. Mine was working well, or at least I thought. Tore it apart to clean and change brushes. Found a burnt winding in the process. Installed a new starter. Could not believe the difference. My somewhat hard to start motor now starts with...

    Battery Advice

Where they sell boats has nothing to do with battery sizing whatsoever. It’s all about having enough power onboard to start and run the boat when push comes to shove. You add up the needs/requirements of both power and accessories and apply a safety factor for worst case scenarios. Bare...

    Battery Advice

If you don’t understand marine battery requirements, why are you ignoring the professionals and proposing to cut available power by almost 50%? Bare minimums are just that, bare minimum to crank and power the engine. This doesn’t take into account any peripherals onboard nor does it leave you...

    Fuses

From the looks of it those are circuit breakers, not fuses. Reset (push in) each one to check functionality

    Lowrance fish finder interference

I suspect your experiencing voltage fluctuations getting close to the limitations of the instrument. My first question is how old are the batteries? Have then been loaded tested recently? Have you put a meter on your battery clips to observe the voltage(s) when these events occur...

    Thru Hull Replacements

The problem with these types of threads is it gives a false sense of security. Nothing is infallible......never assume anything when it comes to safety. Thru hulls, Seacocks and all related plumbing (pumps, etc.) should be thoroughly inspected annually. Anything even remotely suspect should be...

    Fuel System O rings

You may want to check your measurement conversions on the "disk" and "hole" dimensions..... Your ID and OD measurements don't add up to any available cross section. (OD - ID)/2 = CS Reported = 0.317 (8.1) x 0.141 (3.6) x 0.089 (2.2)* Available Sizes: 105 = 0.343 (8.7) x 0.143 (3.6)...

    Thru Hull Replacements

Depends on the material and their usage. Plastic thru hulls are long over due. Metal thru hulls should be thoroughly inspected, possibly dye tested for cracks in critical (below water line) applications.

    Prop Advice

That motor should be propped @ 5800 rpm with a normal load There is no middle ground because it take huge amounts of power (HP) to get a boat up on plane. Once on plane, it takes significantly less power (HP) to move the boat through the water at a given rate of speed. You would need a stop...
