    Spreading Manure, again

Kats are very common on the coast. Personally know 3 guys that run them. Very efficient, nice running boats in the slop. The prop is designed to increase efficiency. They present a very good and documented case on prop efficiency. What data are you disputing? For people (like me) that run...

    Preparation before applying 5200

Surface Preparation: There are waxes, coatings, sealants, grease, oil and other contaminants used in the marine industry, making it very important to clean all surfaces to be bonded before applying 3M TM Marine Adhesive/Sealant 5200. Recommended procedures include cleaning with 3M TM General...

2001 Ocean Pro 175 Tilt and trim.

I didn't rebuild mine unit. Just replaced the T&T motor. Removed the T&T motor and found the valve body assembly full of a mixture of water and trans fluid after 20 years of use. Decided to disassemble and clean the valve body while I had things apart. Once back together, filled the fluid...

2001 Ocean Pro 175 Tilt and trim.

Bare in mind the manifold isn’t “serviceable”, or so they say. Took mine apart to clean and service, not knowing your not supposed to. Little balls (check valves) and spring fell out in the process. No support by OEM. Took hours of digging on internet to piece it together and get the balls...

    Axle sleeve time

Speedi-sleeves work well but you must use the correct size for it to work properly. Wasn’t until I mic’ed journal for a sleeve that I found out I was using the wrong seal for all these years. #2 permatex is the non-hardening sealer

    Depth gauge alarm

A transducer does not need to be “wet” to function properly, The signal simply will not transmit through air. You can fill the void(s) between the transducer and water with any sound carrying material such as epoxy, Fiberglas, etc. Keep in mind that these materials absorb some of the energy...

    System Check troubles and Tach.

You are not dealing with simple relays. You have logic control (ICs) in both the gauge and vro pump. A blow logIc control module, as evidenced by 12V on pin 1, could short the control internally causing the erroneous readings your seeing. VRO is a simple magnetic pulse counter. Power supplied...

    System Check troubles and Tach.

Voltage between pin 1 and 2 is a ground fault with in the tachometer. All bets are off after that

Connect Garmin to Mercury 150 fourstroke

You can find the module a bit cheaper but that’s your only route. Add another $100 to install a NMEA 2000 back bone in the boat as well

    System Check troubles and Tach.

Guessing your gauge is shorted internally and needs replaced. FWIW: pin # 4 is normally closed in operation Test # 2 from the book. With ignition switch on, check voltage between pin #1 (purple) and pin 2 (blk) . If battery voltage is present replace gauge

    Grounding from bus bar

What problem are you trying to solve? If your trying to do what I think you are this makes no sense What kind of boat? What kind of engine power? Where is the bonding circuit connected in your diagram? Suggest you read up on galvanic corrosion, bi-metallic coupling and bonding. Big problems...

    Boat accident at dusk

Since it was getting dark, I assume your all around stern light and bow lights where functional and turned on? One night I about “rolled” a couple in a row boat tied to the lighted marker at the mouth of the inlet. 10:30 at night. No lights. Tied to a market. Flicking a “BIC” to notify people...

    Grounding from bus bar

Pretty convoluted.....what exactly are you trying to do? The negative terminal on the battery is your "earth" or "reference" ground. All grounds must be tired back to the negative battery terminal. The use of multiple ground references (potentials) is just asking for problems.

    Multiple Electrical Issues

It would make more sense to spend the time doing logical, targeted trouble shooting starting. Ask yourself…..what do all your issues have in common? Start your trouble shooting there

    Multiple Electrical Issues

There is no easy fix but you can save a lot of time and effort if you put a little thought into trouble shooting the problem. Its very rare for intermittent problems to manifest from multiple points in a circuit. Tearing the dash apart to clean every terminal is a waste of time and effort...

Honda BF115 power tilt relay wiring

Don’t see anything melted or bulging. Pretty good chance there is nothing wrong with the relays. The corrosion is you problem. Clean everything up real well (make shiny) and see what happens. Personally, I would just replace the lugs. May end up cutting back the wire(s) and splicing new...
