Getting water on top of fuel tank.

The top of the tank should be dry. Guessing the oring on the deck plate is bad or missing. If the boat is self bailing there should be no water below deck, period Leaking hoses, cracked thru hulls and compromised deck joints are usually to blame.

Have you checked the polarity of the AC circuit? Strange things can happen in AC/DC converters with the polarity reversed

Trim sinder or gauge issue with 2007 chaparral 276

Are you manually actuating the sender in the exact same area of rotation as when installed. Quite common for a rheostat output to go dead in certain areas of travel as they wear out. Pull wires from gauge. Put a meter on them to see if the full travel resistance values are within spec and are...

    Boat slow after cleaning

Sounds like someone messed up and used NOTSOFAST on the bottom of the hull. Easy to fix. Any hull cleaner will remove it. Once removed, apply two coats of IGOFAST. Problem solved.....lol

NMEA newb looking to upgrade electronics.

Unless a current model NIB, used electronics are no bargain. Designs and features change at such a rapid pace last year’s models are obsolete by the next season. Not to mention the short support cycles of the units. Read the warranty and support clauses. Most manufactures don’t repair, they...

NMEA newb looking to upgrade electronics.

Don’t know of any domes that you can mix and match between manufacturers. Don’t know why you would want to. The data transfer rate NMEA 2000 is slow. Designed to transfer (sensor) updates. Not fast enough for video or real time streaming data which is typically done via Ethernet

    Boat Wiring Help

With no charge capability, I don’t understand the need a 1/2/both battery switch, let alone two on that setup. TM goes on one stand alone battery. The general purpose will work but not the best choice. Not good at deep cycling. Everything else on the other battery. Install a on/off switch if...

NMEA newb looking to upgrade electronics.

The whole idea behind the NMEA 2000 standard is to make things “plug and play” between brands. Having said that, make sure the units and components atr NMEA 2000 “Certified”. Lots of stuff out there that is NMEA 2000 “compatible”. Not what you want. As far as equipment is concerned, depends...

    Live well

I believe what we have is a difference of terminology. What your describing is a seacock or a ball valve Check Valve: A flow control device which only allows fluids to flow in one direction. Typically spring loaded and mounted in-line. The anti-siphon valve is the fuel tank is the perfect an...

Have never heard of nor seen a “check value” on a thru hull with the exception of the ping pong ball scuppers of which I’m not a fan for a variety of issues Any intake (thru hull) below the water should have a sea **** or on-line ball valve installed.

    Pitting/corrosion on jon boat bottom

Signs would not be tin. Tin is a very soft material. Aluminum is stable with a ph between 6.4 and 8.5 To “clean” need a product outside these limits. Take what you read on the internet about aluminum cleaning with a grain of salt. Don’t tell them producers (mills) acid clean using...

Sticky timing base '96 Evinrude 200TXEDR

Voltage doesn’t tell you anything except the regulator has not failed outright. The goo (insulator material) is proof the stator has been overheated working beyond its capacity. Bad battery(s) and or loose connections are the usual suspects. With the VR pushed to capacity, it’s only a matter...

Need to replace cam roller with new part. Can’t do link and sync w/o 1500-1600 rpm idle on a hose is normal. 700-750 rpm in water, in gear There is no “cleaning” up a failing stator. If the stator has “melted” it needs to be replaced
