    Ease of towing larger boat

It can be done but to what end.... Its a lot of work getting a 25-28' boat on and off a trailer on a regular basis. Add up the cost of a new truck, maintenance on both the truck and trailer and time and effort spent muscling a boat, the economics of a slip start to look like a viable option...

1988 200 HP Mercury Outboard (Starter Rebuild)

If the pinion gear is worn that bad the insides are not that far behind. I’d rebuild the entire thing while you have it apart. Went through the exercise last Spring. Not really having any issues but decided to clean it up as PM. Long story, close inspect turned up burnt wires in the armature...

Cannot Find VP ECM (module) for 8.1 GIL-h

The short answer is probably not anything in the near future. Hearing things may start to come around by the end of Q4 but that's just speculation at this point. In the process of informing customers that we are upping our quoted delivery on new systems from 18 to 26 weeks. Assuming supplies...

    Need bottom paint removal help

Looks like bottom paint..... You can scrape or soda blast to remove but your bottom will never look good again. Faced with the same problem, I scraped the best I could and repainted with2 coats of "hard" anti-fouling paint. Was easier to keep looking good than stripping and dealing with the...

    Saltwater fishing boat help?!

No, I have a Walkaround but the next boat will more than likely be a Center Console. The Walkaround is a great for two things, (inshore) fishing in inclement weather and they make a great family boat. Rinse the blood and guts from the cockpit after the morning fishing trip. Throw the seat...

    Saltwater fishing boat help?!

While I’m a Grady owner and a big fan of the build quality, etc. but a 18’ boat is way too small to take a “family” out in the ocean. How much open water experience do you have?

250 etec pair trim not working

Would seem obvious but have you tested the batteries? Trim takes a lot of current. Replaced my trim motor this Spring. Install went easy enough but spent an hour trying to figure out why it didn’t work afterwards Had power…..just installed 2 new batteries the prior weekend. Turned out both...

VesselView problem - shows only RPM

Where are you getting the power for the Bluetooth and Vessel View devices? Sounds like the network is dropping out from an under-voltage condition. Try powering the devices from a power source separate from the boat's ignition system to see if changes anything

    Battery Switch question

Best practice is to install an ACR with a ON-Off-Both switch and be done playing “battery switch roulette” altogether. Battery wise, I divide everything into two camps. Battery 1: 1. Everything I need to run the boat to get safely home (Motor, Trim Tabs, NMEA 2000 network, Chart plotter...

    1996 fast trac trim tilt

There is a 20 amp fuse in the trim circuit but it powers both relays. I would start by buzzing out the “up” side switch circuit as they are wired in series. Start with wire between the solenoid and motor switch. This segment common to both helm and motor switches

    Pressure testing fuel tank

As a kid right out of trade school I was as assigned to weld up a 36” x 18”x 12”, doubled walled cooling jacket for system using 1/4” steel plate. Got it all welded up, The cooling water supply was 10 gpm @ 60 psi. Hooked up a regulator and put 60 psi of air in it and went to find my boss...
