    Fuel supply problems

Pressure drop in hose in given per 100’ if that tells you anything about increasing the hose length. ;) If a couple feet of hose makes the difference I would start by looking for a vacuum leak between the tank and the fuel pump. If nothing there, a compromised fuel pump would be my next suspect

Yam F300 vs. Merc Verado 350 vs. 383 MPI

General rule when comparing I/O to outboard power is a 25% HP advantage to the outboard for weight. Your 260 HP is comparable to a 195 HP outboard. You also list the bracket as adding #200 to the motor weight. In reality the bracket adds buoyancy, not weight to the boat. So now the...

VesselView - Questions from a total noob

Your dealing with a 7" display. Looks big in the store......but walk 3 to 4 feet away and see how well you can see the map data while stationary. Now imagine yourself trying to read the same map in bright sun, getting tossed around in rough water, while trying to navigating a narrow channel...

Yam F300 vs. Merc Verado 350 vs. 383 MPI

East coast offshore….My 226 Grady White is roughly the same size. A little heavier if anything. Has 154 gallon fuel capacity Top speed is 35 kts with a 27 kt. cruise. Fuel consumption at cruise is 2 mpg per fuel flow meter. My run to the fishing grounds is 40-90 miles each way. Average 150...

VesselView - Questions from a total noob

Don’t know of any unit that overlays engine data over maps nor why anyone would want to do that. Also be aware that vessel-view and your Garmin don’t speak the same language. You need a gateway to connect the two. You can thank Merc for that

    Play in my Telflex Steering

Play in hydraulic steering is air and or low fluid You need to find the source of the air (typically bad orings) and bleed the system

    Problems with accessorys

What is generating the beep? Bilge pumps and live wells don’t beep. Fish finder will beep at “boot” but that it More than likely bad or dirty wire connection(s). Start at the battery and clean every connection as you move forward

    Another surge question

If anything, they are slow to react. Brake pressure is proportional to the amount of force the trailer is putting on the truck. You hit the brakes, truck slows, trailer delays until it builds enough force on coupler to brake the trailer. Having said that, performance is good as your bleed job...

Mercruiser 5.0 carburetion problem ...should I drain my fuel tank?

Dry gas is just more alcohol. First off, do you have a good coalescing fuel filter installed? Those spin on “oil cans” are next to useless for actually “filtering” anything out of your fuel. If you where to let the jar of fuel settle, you would end up with a pin head of water on the bottom of...

Proper size thru Hull transducer for 1996 Sea Ray 210

Boy.....you got that right. Not sure I'd risk my boat on a piece of cheap plastic. The thru hull for my fish finder (95mm) is bronze

    Another surge question

I'll agree with you on the brakes, but my Tie Down actuator is still in good working condition after probably close to 15 years of service. Saltwater doesn't play well with cast iron master cylinders Beware....compared the pasts list between the Tiedown and Dextar actuators. Looks like Dextar...

    Prop pitch change

it’s doesn’t matter how fast you normally travel. You prop a boat to obtain the manufacturer’s rated WOT rpm. Guessing your WOT is around 5500-6000 rpm. Check your manual. Outboards are low displacement, high rev motors. They need rpm to generate power. Otherwise, your lugging (overloading)...

Proper size thru Hull transducer for 1996 Sea Ray 210

The old transducer doesn’t look like any “thru hull” transducer I’ve ever seen. Are you sure the old transducer isn’t a “shoot thru” glued to the hull?

    Another surge question

Dextar and Tie Down are one and the same. ;) I actually choose Tiedown over all others because they offered an aluminum master cylinder. Master cylinder is still great shape after 15 years of saltwater use Wouldn’t worry about the “lock out” bolt. It’s not carrying a load. I used a 1/4” pin...

    Prop pitch change

"Rule of Thumb" only applies when it does..... Prop Design, Cup, Porting, etc. all play into how a prop performs on a given hull. I've had props that swapped 1 for 1 and I've had props that required a change in pitch. Keep in mind that SS prop are typically "performance" props. Most are...
