    1990 Johnson 90HP 2 Stroke Bogging - Help!

Your Marvel Mystery Oil is probably what made the Plugs look like they do. You poured the goop in all the Cylinders, only to have it drain out into the crankcase on a couple of them as the Ports were open, which is why they all don't look the same.

On most OMC Carbs of that type. With the Fuel Bowl off, invert the Carb, put a New Bowl Gasket on. The top of the Float, which is now on the Bottom, should be Even and Parallel with the Gasket. Idle Mixture Adjustment Screw: LIGHTLY seat the Mixture Screw, then back it out 1 1/2 turns. That is...

    Second mortgage for a carb?

https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/carburetor_components/rebuild_kits/marine_renew_kit/parts/703-41 The only part I would be questioning, is the Power Valve in the Kit. Holley is all over the Map with the Power Valves in Marine Carbs. You will likely have to buy one the same as the...

    1969 85 hp starflite 85993

I think the Hydro-Electric Cases are great, and very reliable. Since someone put the Completely Wrong Oil in the Unit, I would be changing it again, a couple more times. Yes the Case is in forward gear when ever the Engine is not Running, or when there is no voltage supplied to either of the...

    Idle speed 40hp 2stroke

A high Idle Speed puts incredible Stresses on the Drive Train upon shifts into Gear. There is no Slip Clutch to 'Feather' going into gear, it is either in gear or out of gear. A quick concise Shift is the correct way. If you hear any Clack Clack Clack, the shift is too slow. A too high Idle...

    Idle speed 40hp 2stroke

You will also have adjust the Cable Length after any Idle Stop Adjustment. There needs to be a small amount of Preload on the Throttle Cable. Too much and it becomes difficult to shift, too little and the Idle Speed can be inconsistent

    Boat is slow

A 13in Pitch sounds a bit big for a 16 ft boat. I would predict a 10 or 11 inch being a better choice. Your engine has a WOT range of 5000-5500 rpm The Scratches on the Face of the Hub, indicate a lot of Slippage between the Prop and the Thrust Washer it is up against. Possibly the Prop Nut...

    Stainless Prop Film

I really don't like People learning about the Shocking Truth of Electricity, anywhere near Water. I know that any Power to a Dock would have to be on an Isolation Circuit, and should be safe, but there shouldn't be any Stray Currents. I suspect the Marina cut some Corners somewhere and the...

    1975 9.9 sea horse

To see if the Pump is pumping, unhook the Line from the Carb, and spin the Engine So you didn't check or adjust the Float? Edit: How far out did you set the Idle Mixture Screw, when you put the Carb together?

    1975 9.9 sea horse

If Fuel is getting to the Carb, it likely means the Check Valves in the Pump are not impeding Flow, as they would if the Lines were Swapped. If the Carb Bowl is filled, by Priming, and the Fuel Level is correct, the engine can run for bit without a working Fuel Pump. However since it won't...

    1975 9.9 sea horse

With that amount of Cranking, the Tub you have it in should have a Layer of Unburnt Fuel on it. When you took the Carb apart, did you have a Kit with all the Gaskets, core Plugs? How exactly did you clean it? How did you check and set the Float? You are Squeezing the Primer Bulb till it is...
