    Set up the boat and motor in your drive with a pair of water muffs. Then you can play with your motor and get the feel of how it starts, runs etc.

    Fully charged is 12.7 volts...12 volts is dead. Squirt some storage oil in the cylinders and crank it over a bit to lube thing up and see what happens. Check for corroded connections !!

    Some connectuons in your pics look a little corroded...what is battery voltage...needs 12.7 volts to be full !!! Below 12 volts is considered dead

    My Islander had wander in it as well, if you find the sweet spot, it will move back and forth all on its own without touching the wheel ! I used to tease my grandkids with my majic steering without touching the steering wheel.

    Why not replace the lower unit on the motor with a shorter one, probably less work !! Most came with either a 15" or 20" leg and they are interchangable.

    Sounds like a better plan, you might check for marine salvage yards ( junk yards) you might be able to scrounge up a small builtin fuel tank for little $$$.

    That is why there are many products out there to use. Another one that I have had excellent sucess with is the Lucas brand fuel conditioner. Doesn't work as well on two strokes but awesome for four stroke engines. Seafoam for two strokes and lucas for 4 stroke engines!! After 30 plus years...
