    Plastic gas tank outboard.

There are set rules for " properly" how do you know you can do it properly ? Most portable tanks are not built to the same specs as a built in tank so....if you choose to tackle this project, do not cut any corners and no patch job short cuts for your own safety !!

    Advice Needed on Boat Repair.

Do a very close check up on the transom and stringers, unless they have been replaced, they are gonna be rotten !! Very unsafe for your family if not fixed !! That rotten wood has no structure to hold anything. Core samples are required to test, just thumping around won't do it !!

    Minn kota trolling motor issues.

Mine is an older model than yours, the same latch that realeases the motor from its stored position, is the latch that locks it in the down position. Should have instructions in your owners manual !!

    Starting issue

Perhaps an internal short in the battery, get a load test at the parts store, usually free !!

    Sea foam for outboards?

Yes there is if you let it get bad. By keeping up with it by adding a couple oz of seafoam every other tank keeps problems away. At my small boat club/ marina, they only folks that have issues each year, are those that don't use either !! If it works well for 75% of the boat club and the...

Burning ~3 quarts of oil between changes

Add some STP to your oil, switch to a heavy oil like a 20-50 in warm weather. How much is burning and how much is leaking ??

    Starting issue

Check actual battery voltage with a voltmeter. Battery is full at 12.7 volts and above! Below 12 volts is basicly dead even though the spark is good. Also get your battery tested, usually free at most parts stores.

    Sea foam for outboards?

I use both, have for many, many years ...Stabil is primarily a fuel stabilizer for long term storage, but helps thru the season if the boat does not get used often. I use seafoam as an engine cleaner, really helps maintain a smoother idle. Lots of folks call them snake oils and other names but...

    Minn kota trolling motor issues.

Just a guess here, but are you shallow enough the motor hits bottom and forces its way back up ?? Other wise my guess it it isn't latched into the down position. On my powerdrive, there is a latch that locks it in the down position...

Turn the boat, kill the engine.

Also ...where are you getting your fuel ?? There are certain places where I won't buy gas due to there poor maintenence on there equipment which increases the chance of water in the fuel. Never buy fuel when the underground tank is being filled by the truck !! Never buy from stations that...

    Trouble coming on plane

Mabey to much down trim causing extra drag ?? I see that in my tinnie, usually myself and mabey one passenger. When I add another one or two people I can't tuck the trim all the way down as it makes it worse getting the bow up and on plane. Between thevtrim on the OD and tabs might be to much...

    Top Speed Of Our Boat?

Was not refering to the age of your boat, I have owned many that are much older. I don't feel your mechanic was giving you correct information and probably charging you very high prices for the poor service.

    Top Speed Of Our Boat?

From your postings, your mechanic has given you some poor advice and probably charged you high dollars...especially the part about the "right" prop for your boat. Without thorough testing just replacing what was on it does not mean it was the "right" prop. Just adding a bit of humor in regards...

    Dust Cap Woes

The inside if your hub is provably worn from age. The ID where the cap grabs should have some small light grooves in there for the cap to grip on. Over time and numerous cap replacements make those tiny grooves wear smooth. If there is anyway you can rough up that lip it may help, also the...

    Top Speed Of Our Boat?

When is your mechanic getting his new boat ?? With all the money he has gouged you out of with poor fixes he should be able to afford a nice one. Good luck !!

    Mercury Flo-Torq II Locking Tab

To each his own, but I would not trust only one tab being bent. That is all that keeps the nut from backing off that holds the prop on. The material is not that tough and one tab could be forced open thru prop torque. For two bucks.....way to cheap, not to replace in my opinion. Hope you all...

Turn the boat, kill the engine.

Think you found your issue...next question...how did the water get in there and how will you stop/ fix it ??

    Busiest day of the year

We went out to our fireworks on monday evening, had a great time, local, county sheriff and coast gard patrolled the area...10 mph max speed all down the river and they did pull over a few !! From my view, everyone pretty much behaved. Local marina has a senior launch permit for 70 and over...
