    carburetor suspect problems

I got bored reading the previous posts Your engine HAD a Divorced Choke. It currently has no functioning Choke, cause the Brainiac who chose the Intake, picked an Automotive Intake intended for use with a Carb with an Electric Choke. The Choke Plate is just flapping in the Breeze and relying on...

    1977 140 carb replacement

If the Throttle Shafts are loose, and letting Air in, causing problem getting Consistent Idle, then the Carb is pretty much a Paper Weight. Corrosion on the Power Valve should be removable, with a bit of Polishing. Every Carb Kit I have ever seen, included a Needle and Seat, for the Float...

Evinrude 15 1992 carburetor cover change

Reversed polarity 40 hp Mercury -Coughs but it won't start

Welcome to iboats Any idea what yr the engine is? 2, 3, or 4 Cylinder? You hooked the Battery up Backwards? That pretty much fries the Recitifier, so no charging and no Tach. Switchboxes and other Ignition Components usually survive, but I guess they too could be fried. Have you tested to see...

WaterFlow. Your motor doesn't have the Bubble/Turtleback Exhaust Cover, but the Flow is still the same This shows the Orientation of the Gasket. You really should get a New one if the current one was installed flipped.

Trailer driving lights do not work, what I've done so far...

One way to reduce the Odds of it blowing again, is to unhook the Trailer Lights, just before you put the Trailer in the Water. Regardless of how "Water Tight" the wiring is supposed to be, it rarely is, and undistilled Water, is an excellent Electrolyte.

Unless you know what Rpm the motor hits at WOT, you will not know if you are propped correctly. You also need to know what the WOT Rpm Range for your engine is.
