    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

Can you take one with the AV Plate parallel to the bottom of the Hull? The ones you have posted look like the engine is trimmed in fully

    70hp evinrude pitch size advice

In the 80s, I had installed what was called True Trim Steering on my outboard. It used a Trim Tab, that was connected to the Steering Linkage, and by rotating the Trim Tab, the Outboard would be steered. It offered a No Torque Experience at all Speeds and Trim Angles. It was a copy of the system...

    70hp evinrude pitch size advice

That's odd. Boats usually want to pull to Starboard when engine is trimmed in/down, then even out as engine is trimmed out/up, then pulling to Port when trimmed further out/up. That of course us assuming the Prop is not a Counter Rotating

    70hp evinrude pitch size advice

I did the same test, in the early 70s , when I was a Teenager, and found very similar, results. Acceleration did change though.

    70hp evinrude pitch size advice

I would verify that the Tach is set correctly, and that it is Accurate. 6000 rpm, with a 19 in, on a 16ft, the numbers appear a bit off

Is this a long shaft on a short transom and other questions

I have never seen one of that design run all that well. Mainly because of the Design of the Induction System on Mercs Inline Engines, which is normally decent, but 2 cannot feed 3 every well or evenly/equally The Engine is pretty much a crank-rated 140, or a prop-rated 115, cut in half, except...

Is this a long shaft on a short transom and other questions

Lower the motor, and see where the AV Plate is in relation to the Hull Bottom. From what I can see in the pic, I feel confident that both are 20 inches

Years of Evergreen Needles will have softened the Floor under any Carpet, and all the snow should mean the boat gets rinsed every spring thaw

    Why Oil Injection?

OMC didn't market their own TCW Oil until about 66 or 67. Prior to that the manuals stated using Outboard Oil or Non-detergent SAE 30 at 50:1. OMD later put out a Bulletin stating that their Branded Oil could be used in all engines at 50:1. I wasn't scared about using it in our 1957 35hp and our...

    Why Oil Injection?

I don't have many boating memories prior to about 1963, I would have been 3 at the time, but I do remember there was always Outboard Motor Oil, in a Red Plastic Container, from Esso(I think it was Exxon in the US), It said 'Easy Mix' on the Label on the Spine. First time I recall seeing a TCW...

    Why Oil Injection?

Actually, one of the DI designs, I cant' remember if it was FICHT, or Optimax, did add a very small amount of Oil to the Fuel, about 0.2(500:1) - 0.25(400:1)%. The Rationale was that the Oil would lubricate the Injector, and the Detergent in it, would keep the Injector cleaner.

    Why Oil Injection?

Years ago, when we did add the Oil into the Gas, it wasn't always done properly or with the correct amount. Some people had trouble with the Math, others would carefully measure out the Correct amount of Oil, fill the Tank with Gas, then pour the Oil in, put the Cap on the tank and start the...

Unless an engine has Knock Sensors, it is tuned to run on 87, and anything higher is a Waste of Money, but I guess it give some guys Woodies when they put the Higher Octane stuff in
