Will my oil pan gasket leak or should I re-do it?

If there is any Doubt, it is far easier to redo it now, than once it is installed and running at the Lake, River, Ocean

    Reed petals

Being that that hole is covered by the Retainer, I don't think it matters. FWIW, if the 1st pic were the Reeds that were in the engine, they looked from this angle, fine. Don't forget to install new Locking Tab Washers, and use Locktite on the bolt as instructed in the Service Manual

    Moeller 12 Gallon LPT

40 yrs ago, I had one plastic Tank and 4 steel tanks. I saw the Plastic one reshape itself one hot day. I probably could have removed the Fuel Pump and the 115 would have ran very well for quite a while.

    Stupid shake-down cruise? Lake Ontario

The Great Lakes are small Oceans, and need to be Respected as such. I have seen Lake Ontario get really Nasty, near where it becomes the St. Lawrence River near Kingston Ont.

It is amazing how durable those thin sheets of Metal are. At 5500rpm, they are opening and closing 90+ times each second. So if an engine gets to 1000 hours, the reeds may have done over 300,000,000 cycles

Sneezing at Idle is usually just a Lean Carb. What other symptoms was the engine displaying? Any pics of the old Reeds, preferably still mounted? In over 45 years, I have never seen a Reed that needed replacement, except for those that were damaged by someone.

If you raise a rain barrel 10 feet high, and attach a garden hose what kind of pressure can you expect from gravity alone.

It will allow you to wet the Vehicle. Down at the ground, the PSI is 4.33. Higher, like on Car Roof that is 5 feet above the ground, the pressure would be 2.165psi

    Simple

I've used that Power Tune Method, and sometimes it does work. Other Times it has dislodged a clump of Varnish/Gum, and plugged up one of the Fuel Circuits. Disassembly of the Carbs, including all the Mini-core plugs and then you can get any guck out, is really the only Proper Way to clean the...

Myself, I wouldn't take a 'new to me Boat' on that type of Journey. Reading your Posts, I feel your mind is made up, and are looking for someone to agree with you. You can do what you want, but, I think it could turn out to be a bad Experience

    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

Time to get out the Paint Remover. There might be some nice smooth Gelcoat under there. Your boat, was that the one that had the rounded corner where the Transom and the bottom of the hull met?
