    Increase ground clearance for off-roading?

Just make sure you have enough clearance with the Fenders for full suspension movement And don't use Car or Truck Tires

    Oil Change question

I was in my teens during the 70s when Canada started the Metric Conversion and I can switch back and forth quite easily. Fluid Measurements were always different to our neighbours to the South. Our cars/trucks always got better fuel economy(mpg) than the same car in the States. 😉 I used to see...

    Oil Change question

Those oil filters on Most outboards don't even hold a cup(8 or 10 ounces, depending on what country). As for the extra 2 1/2 liters out of the engine. Did it look like old oil, or did it look like Irish Creme?

Welcome to iboats Does this engine have a Man Overboard Switch? If so is the Lanyard in place, so the Ignition System functions?

    Increase ground clearance for off-roading?

Your Ground Clearance is only as great as the Lowest Point of the Trailer. Taking a Trailerboat off road isn't my idea of fun. Pack an Inflatable in the back of the 4X4 to explore places off the beaten path

    88 SPL Evinrude - Help!

Might be a High Fuel Level, but as I said those carbs, often pour fuel out of the Vents when the engine is tilted up. A few bounces while being trailered helps too. The Air Silencers on the Carbs had Drain Hoses to dump the spilled fuel overboard or in the Lower Cowl. Also any Pressure built up...

    88 SPL Evinrude - Help!

You can open the Drain of the Lower Unit and see if any water comes out, or if the bit of Oil that drains looks like Mocha/Irish Creme

    88 SPL Evinrude - Help!

Well 2 strokes send a lot of Fuel(gas and oil) out the Exhaust, and fuel also spills out of the carbs when the engine is tilted up... Gear Oil does stink to High Heaven compared to Fuel, so it easy to tell them apart

service manual for 1975 15hp evinrude?

    88 SPL Evinrude - Help!

The Propshaft Seal can be replaced without having to remove the case from the Engine, the Bearing Carrier and Propshaft can all come out. The Shiftshaft Seal will require removal of the case. I think you need to reseal the entire case, as the seals below the water pump are likely the Culprit...

    1150 Link & Sync Question

As I said the timing is what determines the Idle Speed, as the Butterflies are supposed to be closed. Again I said that a Different Prop can load the Engine Differently and could require a resetting of the Idle Speed These engines do not have an Adjustment to vary the amount of Air entering at...

SeaFoam can't fix Ignition issues, and it really doesn't do anything except make a bunch of Smoke. There are much better Chemicals for Decarboning an Engine

    1977 Johnson 70 HP 2-Stroke 3 Cylinder

Okay, so what I getting from you are two different Stories. First you are implying it Never runs right, later it changes to "that the boat runs strong". It makes it difficult to offer meaningful Help when the Story changes. And the first who responded is one of those most Knowledgeable about...

    1150 Link & Sync Question

Yes on these engines the Butterflies are completely closed at Idle. Cable adjustment is done after the Idle Speed is Set. Throttle Cable has to be unanchored for the Linkage to move freely, allowing the Speed to be set. Idle speed is determined by the Spark Timing, and that will vary depending...
