    Anything is possible but both idling shouldn't cause one to die. If electrical connections are bad, maybe Alternator outputs the same when running, should be around 14V+

    You have fuel at the carb so it's not the pump Something is getting hot. Are the points and condenser new?

    The 5v Ref comes from the ECM Now it could be it is at 5v it's just your meter, but if you see 5v on the other motor than that's not the issue

    It ran great for 30 minutes than it started having problems and it keeps getting worst. Could be a sucked up something and clogged up. Could be other things but this is my first thought Does it run better ant higher rpm than lower (below 1800) RPM?

    You have weak compression, and weak compression means things are not producing same power, burn rate. If gap is not making a good open/close if spark is weak there can be even more power reduction

    Your compression numbers are low but should run well enough. If your timing is off, points not set correctly, carb not adjusted correctly could hinder it running with the exhaust pressure build up as Scott mentioned

    Welcome Is this a new to you boat or is this something that just started? The first things is check fuel pressure of the high and low pressure pumps HP pump should be 39 +/- 3 psi LP pump depends on which GI version, EF 8 +/- 4 psi, HU to WT 5 +/- 3 psi
