    did you make sure that each lifter was put back to the exact same lobe? flat tappet lifters mate for life. if you swap lobes and lifters, you usually take out the lobe and the lifters.

    The dipstick tube should go all the way to the bottom of the pan and curve it's way past the bearings, windiage tray and crank since you only got 3-1/2 qts out, you have a 4 to 4-1/2 qt pan

    the filler wall is in the upper section, just above the split for the lower. use a bit of grease to hold it in place while you slide in the lower.
