    J1171 Marine Trim Pump issue

On the pump there are 3 wires, Black, Blue and Green. If you ground the black wire and put +12volts on the Blue that's up. If you ground the black wire and put +12volts on the Green that's down.

Mercury kicker steering linkage mounting point

Thanks for posting the picture. I'm trying to rig up something as well for use if my main motor conks out. Do you get a full range of motion left to right on the kicker? It looks like you keep the stern drive in the down position, do the skegs on both motors stay in alignment when turning left...

    Power Boat sinks in Michigan

A lot of people if not most instead of wearing pfd's keep them in a cubby somewhere. Their passengers don't know where they are located and in any case when the sh** hits the fan it's too late to get at them.

OMC 2.5L 120 HP Engine max RPM at WOT

Connect another tach to the motor and see how they compare. At the back of the tach you have there could be a selector for the number of cylinders. If you rotate it back and forth a few time that can sometimes get them working properly again.

OMC 2.5L 120 HP Engine max RPM at WOT

For the same vintage mercruiser 2.5 which is the same motor WOT is 3900-4300. If your tach is right, you're way off. With that prop I'm thinking your tach is reading low. Although I don't know your gear ratio so I might be wrong.

    Sterndrive multiple leaks

I might have figured out why there was water coming out of places I never really noticed before. And the bullet hole was more than a dribble. At my house I have very good water pressure with good volume. I have a ball valve on the muffs so I don't have to run back and forth to the house. I only...

    Sterndrive multiple leaks

Looks like you're right on. The 3 holes that water is coming from have a route to the exhaust cavity. 2 of the holes have water and exhaust coming out. The one on the front of the bullet is just water. I'm not sure why I've never noticed it before. I've seen water dribble from the bullet but...

    Sterndrive multiple leaks

The pump and the water pocket assembly were replaced a few years ago. I'll split the drive and see what things look like. It just seems like too much water coming out those ports to me. Along with the exhaust as well.

    Sterndrive multiple leaks

The arrow in pic 3 is showing the direction of the water flow coming from the drive towards the transom.

    Cooling System Generic Info

Finally had a chance to look at my outdrive as well as a honda 50. On the water intakes, both of them have plastic grates with a bunch of tiny scoops. I guess that's how it works. I am wondering as others suggested pressure differential comes in to play as well.

    Holt oil extractor

As dubs283 said no need to put the hose down the dipstick tube for the boat. Put the hose on the end of the dipstick tube. Sometime you can use a garden hose adapter that threads onto the dipstick tube.

Also, what weight oil are you using?

    Oil pan drain hose

Welcome. The type of pump that removes the oil through the dipstick tube gets enough oil out that you don't have to worry about the small amount left behind.

    Cooling System Generic Info

I thought maybe Atmospheric Pressure as well or the water was forced in through the intake. I'll have to look at the intake on my mercruiser but on one of the honda kickers it doesn't really look like water would be forced in.
