    Also, if you don't already have the Free-Backing style then if you replaced the backing plate assembly you could go with the Free-Backing type. The Free-Backing type won't activate when backing up with a surge system. Saves you from having to disable the system when backing up.

    It's not like a conventional seal. It's to stop grease from flinging into the bilge area. As Benny67 said I don't think it's critical.

    Mine still works after the subscription expires. I tried to figure out what I'm missing but it's not anything that impacts navigating unless it's new obstacles that users find. I can load it on multiple android devices as along as they use the same google play account.

    Are you saying when not towing your boat your rev's are 1500 and with the boat at the same speed its 1800? If so, I suspect the difference is your torque converter is not locking up when towing. Not locking up = heat = bad. Maybe that's why you needed your tranny rebuilt?

    If it has electric start it probably has a "generator". It won't look like a belt driven alternator on your car. An easy way to check if it has the ability to charge a battery is to check the voltage at the battery when the motor is running above idle. You should get 13-15 volts.

    With the height of your transom you might find the short shaft motor too short to be used easily unless it has electric start and remote throttle.

    Why not let us know where you are? Someone might be able to help you then. Have you checked out the "local dmv" website? How about a local insurance agent if your DMV uses those? I know in Manitoba it used to be easy to register a trailer as home built but not anymore.
