Garden hose to rinse the boat and trailer

Buy a coiled garden hose. They expand to great lengths, yet spring back for easy storage. Very durable as well. Whatever you do, DON'T ever buy an "expandable" hose. They are simply crap. A coiled will last many years, while you may be lucky to get weeks out of an expandable. I fell for...

I will settle all arguments once and for all! I BOUGHT A DYNO

Fill the gas tank, charge the battery, put on the right prop for WOT specs. and go boating. If the other guy goes faster than you, so what? Why do you need a dyno?

    The Boating Season That Wasn't

Sorry to hear of your problems. I guess you have much more patience than me. Three times and the boat would have gone back. I'm 73 as well. If I can't go boating you should just put me in a nursing home. I can identify with your problem. It's life today in many aspects. There probably was...

Jack up the bow while boat is on the trailer ...

If the water is under deck and not accessible, adding soap probably won't do any good. But go ahead anyway, it can't hurt. Yes, drive around awhile. The best suggestion yet was to find a steep hill and park until it all drains out. If no hill around, simply jack it up until the keel slopes...

    Leaf Springs

The thread morphed into a discussion of not greasing one's propeller shaft. Not like its something you can't or should not do.

    Leaf Springs

I put 3 grams on my shaft, which is then covered by the prop. I didn't mean that I willfully discard 3 grams in the water.

    Can't Open this site

I have been using Edge for IBoats and my other browser for everything else. I suspected it was on my end. A few days ago it all started working again. Somebody did something but it wasn't me...

    Leaf Springs

The manuals for all my engines say to pull the prop annually, check for fish line and grease the splines, etc, etc. When I do that I usually see some grease left and I only add a finger tip full of new grease. Do you mean to say that my 3 grams of marine grease is harmful to the environment?

Help to identify the boat year and model.

I said plus or minus. 87 was the first catalog I found in my stash. Didn't look further.

Help to identify the boat year and model.

It's a Starcraft Jetstar that is missing the windshield. The engine is a Johnson circa 1987 +-. The motor model number will verify the exact year. What else do you need to know? BTW, sitting outside full of snow it may not be worth much.

23l plastic fuel tank leaving 6-8 litres

This has been discussed many times. https://www.iboats.com/shop//seasense-three-way-valve-click-1-4-npt.html

23l plastic fuel tank leaving 6-8 litres

The tank has a built-in reserve capacity. Note the depression in the bottom of the tank. That's not just for a spot to run a strap to hold the tank in place. When you run out, tip the tank so that the reserve fuel will transfer over to the side with the pickup. No mods needed for that issue...

    V-Hull Vs Flat bottom Speed

We used to camp with our little tinny when the boys were young. it has a 9.5. With 2 fat adults and 2 pre-teen boys is "seemed" to plane but we didn't go real fast. In the evenings my 8 year old would fish off the dock into the lily pads. He felt real bad when the big guy fishermen would...

Gear oil for 15 hp Evinrude outboard

Cold won't hurt the oil. Let it sit at room temp for awhile before you use it. If it's an Evinrude, you need Evinrude washers for the plugs. If you don't have a local dealer with old stock, Iboats should have it. Just google Evinrude or OMC lower unit drain plug washers.

    V-Hull Vs Flat bottom Speed

During the years between when Grandpa sold the cottage and boat, and when I bought a boat of my own, Dad and I used to go to a small lake for our Summer fishing trips. (Silver lake in central NY in the Finger Lakes region) Tucker's Livery also had a small lakeside campground that they let...

    outboard motors prices

Prices vary by location. Two strokes are becoming red headed stepchilds. Many dealers won't work on them anymore. Do an NADA marine search with your zip code. Look at local Craigslist ads. Try Ebay to see if you can locate a similar model in your area. Post a CL ad for $1000. If nobody...

    V-Hull Vs Flat bottom Speed

Actually, unless you're talking about a flat bottom jon boat, most all v-hull utilities are classified as a semi-v (i.e., v bow tapering off to a flat stern). Except for some late model Starcraft SeaFarers (and maybe others), which IS a true deep-v, though the deadrise is shallow.

how hard would it be to ?

It will affect the handling and performance of the boat. You will have to move the steering and controls so you can see where you're going. After spending all the time and money I predict you won't be happy with the results. Trade the boat in and buy one that suits your needs.

    Winter Storage

I also have a bunch of old stuff with carbs, including a classic car. They all are light use vehicles as well. When I used unleaded gas (as well as leaded gas eons ago) I used to have to rebuild carbs every 5 years or so. We switched to E10 whenever. At the time they told us, they said they...
