    Winter Storage

That is the most bizarre idea I ever heard. Even the owner's manual says you need to mix it with the gas and then run the engine so the stabil gets thru the entire fuel system. Please, please give us a link to where you READ this. I am extremely anxious to see who wrote that piece. Separate...

    Winter Storage

Likely longer than that. The Owner's Manual for my 70 year old Merc also said to use gasoline stabilizer.... Hahaha...Stabil ain't a new concept.

    Question on bimini top location

Just my opinion, so don't take offense. At my age I have had some sun related problems, so I put a bimini on my 14' utility fishing boat. I just could not sit out in the sun all day on a fishing trip. It was unmanageable. It got in the way for everything. Besides, when on plane it acted like...

    replacing tires

I always jack on the axle. If you use the frame you have to go wayyyy high. Also, I never liked the idea of replacing 2 tires at the same time. Then, you have to support the whole thing. One at a time to the tire shop is a hassle. Then, I found the solution. Find the tires you want and buy...

What is this on the transom?

I ordered my Whaler with a Raymarine Downvision chirp system. I can switch it to "fishfinder" or "Downvision" as I desire. It shows me a detailed view of the bottom, OR a bunch of fish. First of all, I don't admit to knowing all the complicated stuff, but I can only report my findings. Our...

    Fuel treatment question.....

I have a 42 year old classic car that gets driven only about 100 miles per year. I only use E10. I usually put about 5 gallons of gas in each Summer, with stabilizer for the 5 gallons at the same time. I would guess that the gas in the tank right now is a combination of 1, 2 and 3 years old...

What is this on the transom?

Would love to see a picture of that! Do you happen to have some? I will go with your route. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You aren't a real boater unless you drill a bunch of holes to add custom equipment. Routing wires over the transom looks so...

    Help identify this hardware

I had to laugh. In The USA that used to be the ONLY way trailers were built. Then we'all got lazy and didn't maintain our equipment so the manufacturers stapled some carpet on a twobafore and called it a day. Personally, I have never owned a trailer without them, and never will.

    Help identify this hardware

Doesn't matter. They all look to be past their service life. Although the brackets look reusable. I'd just throw them away.

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

The store bought Lyman in my signature was built with clinker nails and 3/8" marine plywood. This year she made her 70th birthday and she is still as good as when she came from the factory. It's all about taking care and where she is stored.

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

My Dad bought his boat in 1939 as a high schooler with a part time job. It was a Sears Roebuck 14 footer and Grandpa supplied the 4 HP Wizard. They transported it on top of my Uncle's Model A to Grandpa's cottage twice a year.. I don't know what it cost. The family used that boat until 1961...

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

The key is that the plywood be made with waterproof glue. Exterior grade meets that requirement but its not solid core. Marine plywood is good both sides AND solid core.

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

I read post #1 and googled "costume boat", so I understood at the onset. But when he said put on a motor, I assumed he was talking about a REAL boat and that he was serious. If it truly was a joke, then he should go, well, you know what. But I'll wait till he comes back to pass judgement.

Outboard Motors Corporation outboard model number?

Take your existing plug to any auto parts store. They should be able to look kit up and cross reference it if needed. Wire is sold by the foot and they should have that too. You'll need to solder it in to replace the ones you have now.

Boat Bumpers - Cheap Easy DIY Project

Back in the day, "fenders" were constructed from woven layers of cotton "rope". Today the rubber made ones are really cheap. Want to make them even better? Cover them with a terrycloth fender cover. Let us know how yours work out after a year of being tied to a dock. I would imagine that...

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

I "built" my first boat 54 years ago in my grandpa's garage. She sported a 40 HP Lark, and later a 60 HP Triumph. Yes, you need marine plywood, silicon bronze screws and red marine glue. Google Clark Craft, woodenboat.com and GlenL marine. Or just google building a wooden boat. There are...

Using navigation lights with bow lights in unison.

Of all the annoying things that illiterate boaters do, the MOST annoying thing is when a boat is coming toward you with bow lights on. Sure go ahead and use them if you are out all by yourself. But when another boat approaches you need to be able to turn them off, while still have the nav...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

I never paid no attention to load ratings and overloaded everything I ever had. Never had a problem. Then there was that day on the internet when the deer ran across the road. Why did that idiot in front of me have to stop that quick?

    Help IDing Trailer

My 14' tinny and my 19' I/O trailers all launch at the same depth. It's all about having the trailer set up right and then using common sense. (except crappy ramps might require modifications)
