    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

My SS had the same brass fitting through the SW, I painted the SW and used a plastic washer on each side to isolate it. So using like that will be fine. Mine had no corrosion since 1979. Man I really do like how those chine braces are done in your 22'r! Those Merc Max's are great motors and...

    1988 Starcraft Chieftain New Owner

Welcome aboard and to the Starmada! Ok, so you PM'd me about the windshield, I see that you're needing to replace the bottom one not get a replacement for a missing top glass set. Anyway you'll need to remove the old one to pattern the new and either order and do the job yourself or like me...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

I see your like me when I did my first boat, you want things perfect and are tough on yourself for imperfections. It took me to the third one before that was out of my system and I accepted the fact that I'm only human and working at home in my garage. I think you've done some really fine work...

    1972 Starcraft Nova

No not really, the best attempt to use the old holes is by marking their general location on the inside of the spray rail chine using a marker and square to either miss them or try to hit the same hole.

1978 starcraft 16 ft just had her repowered with a 2020 60 hp Mercury 4 stroke. Can't wait to see what she'll do now

That would get you a new Merc 115 4 stroke, looking at around 100 clams per horse when you get into the upper HP motors.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Yes I have used just the Helmsman spar alone, 3 coats is almost overkill and I've used it on my trailer bunks. I also put it on some plywood I used to put under the Chief's trailer jack so the wheel wouldn't sink in the yard over winter. The spar held up just fine under snow and rain against the...

    1978 16 kingfisher

Riveting these old boats may seem daunting but it's actually fun once you get into it, I think part of it is knowing that you're making the boat stronger than when it was new.

    1978 16 kingfisher

For some boats it's been an issue, I had to replace 100's of solid rivets on my 79 SS because the heads would fall right off when tapped.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Really looking good and ready for some water. (y) What is that post made of? As thin as it is it looks steel with an AL base. I would use a Sawzall and cut it and then be sure to vacuum up all the shavings from inside. Also I would prime and paint the raw cut edges.

1996 Starcraft Islander 191v blower motor mystery

There should be one inline blower motor in the middle between the hose in the bilge and the air discharge thought the clam shell vent on the side. Normally the blower motor is mounted to the transom from what I've seen on these boats.

Sounds like you have some work ahead of you on the old Holly but if it's a labor of love then the whole experience will be enjoyable.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

To show you what I meant, the set back from the upper edge that I put on the transom pad allowed for the cap to fit on my SS.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Had the same oil leak on my drive, it was the lower water pump housing that has the driveshaft seal in it. If oil comes out of the drain hole further forward on the gear case then normally it's the shift shaft seal, my OB motor on my SS did that last year too. The shift shaft required a special...

    Question on motor size

For the ever popular 16' SS a much better option than the heavy and thirsty V4 are the Johnnyrude 3 cyl motors 70 - 75 HP, you'll get good power, speed just over 30 and way better fuel economy.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

If not broken up the it should be fine to clean the transom cap pieces and reuse. You may have a challenge using the old cap or fabricating one since the transom skin overlay is flush with the top with no set back for the cap to be flush on the old skin.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

We all have our issues, here's mine, a 25" transom that some goof cut down to use a 20" shaft motor and cut a hole in the splashwell for me to repair. The SW is around 18" deep.
