SS screws. It's not a structural member. Good luck finding the part.

    Swapping out rollers for bunks

There are ramps and there are ramps. We all have to deal with what we have. There are guideline specs for launch ramps. Not every municipality got the memo. Plus, some are old and built before the standards were written. Bunk trailers are fine for some, and meet their requirements. On some...

    Hydro Shield Skeg Foil

It's been around for awhile. If it had a built-in flaw it probably would have been litigated out of the market long ago. Besides, the design of the bracket looks like it might just strengthen the skeg. What I can't get my arms around is the price. My guess is that it would be no better than a...

    Hydro Shield Skeg Foil

Good for you. We all like real world data. Personally, I like Doelfin foils and have one on every boat since 1984. My current 2 boats are equipped with VesselView, so my current data is spot on, no guesswork. If you want the ULTIMATE comparison, put one of those in your test program.

    Anyone Seen these?

In about 1983 I paid $2000 for an IBM computer. It was rated in bytes and had limited capabilities. Today's computers are rated in terrabytes and cost only 1/10th the price. Economy of scale. If enough people buy the sbarrow maybe eventually it'll come down to $550.

    Hydro Shield Skeg Foil

I would not make a definitive statement, either positive or negative. My guess is it wouldn't hurt you, but show me the data.

I may be the one that first used the term Enertia. It was used as an example, not an absolute (I said "or others")' Regardless, I think its safe to say that I have not bashed the sbarrow pizza prop. All I said that in the absence of real data, who is to compare? We all look for modern...

    Swapping out rollers for bunks

Yupper. Get bunks and then power load. "Everybody does it". No winching needed. However.....if everybody does that then the end of the concrete ramp gets washed away. Some municipalities frown upon that. With no end in sight, don't back in too far or the axle will slip off the end and then...

    Swapping out rollers for bunks

The boat is the submarine, not the truck....LOL.

Every thing that is an economic improvement has an ROI. As I said above, only YOU can decide if the term meets your requirements. Other feel good things like planing and speed are not that quantifiable.

    Swapping out rollers for bunks

Sorry I can't help you. My lifelong endeavor has been to replace all the troublesome bunks with rollers. If rollers are problematic, its the age old same problem. Driving in too deep. We call it launching a submarine.

No such resource available. Motor manuals are the best you can get.

    Anyone Seen these?

If you have an old 1950's 2-stroke that sucks gas like there is no tomorrow, and you replace it with a modern 4-stroke, then the upgrade is probably cost effective, depending on how much you go boating. If you buy a modern SS high performance Mercury Enertia prop (or others) and increase your...

    Anyone Seen these?

This has been discussed ad nauseium on other forums. The general consensus is its not cost effective. Regardless, actual production and sales have either not started yet, or are just starting. Only real customer data will tell the story. (personally, for 4 grand I would want my fuel...

    Duo boat question

The engine model and SN will be what you need to get engine parts. There are no oem parts available for a 48 year old boat. Things like seats, steering wheels, cleats, etc. are only available aftermarket.

Trying to decide between 3 older boats!

There's a reason why they don't make tri-hulls any more. Nobody was buying them. For a small lake they are fine. But in bigger waters with a lot of waves the ride will be very uncomfortable. Towers of power were iconic and loved by many. But they were a tinkerer's dream even when new. I...

Trying to decide between 3 older boats!

I'd be hard put to buy any of them. If I simply HAD to go with one because they were the only 3 left I would go with the Chris. Of course, contingent on a sea trial, inspection to verify its solid and hear the engine run. Regardless, if you don't have a whole lot of time to mess with...

Weight distribution on trailer bunks and rollers?

Four keel rollers for a 16 footer should be ideal. The ones that are missing the keel may have slipped down, or maybe weren't adjusted right in the first place. Nevertheless, eyeball the keel itself to be sure IT is straight. Although the bow roller should ideally be above the bow eye, if you...
