    Evinrude wire colors

A number of cable manufacturers are switching from colored to numbering as a means to identify the individual wires in the cable. Numbering is manageable on the bench but a pita for technicians trying to troubleshoot in the field. These work like a charm

    Trim Circuit Breaker

The issue is that manual reset fuses have been superseded with auto reset. The exact replacement is special order, this the min order requirement. No reason it couldn’t be replaced with the auto reset version or even a common Maxi buss fuse

    Evinrude wire colors

As someone who builds and supports electronics in the field…..tape sucks, big time. Dries out and falls off with time. Highly recommend labeling with colored shrink markers. We use these, but others are avaiable https://www.milspecwiring.com/Colored-Wire-Markers_c_524.html

    Closed cooling worth the money?

Guess the OE risers on my first and last I/O bucked the odds going on 10 years when I sold it. Putting 150-200 hours a year and flushing after each outing (trailer boat) probably helped. After running outboards for the past 25 years, want nothing to do with an I/O. Far too much work to...

    Closed cooling worth the money?

IMHO, FWC isn't worth the money. Saltwater, keep in a slip with limited us and never flushed, maybe under extenuating circumstances. Saltwater trailer boat, limited use, flushed after use, you'll never recover the hardware cost, let alone the labor involved in the maintenance and upkeep...

    Dumb Stuff You Find

My wife and her best friend (2 blondes) decided to take my brand new Civic EX, 5 speed for a spin. Just jumped in the car and took off. A half hour later I get a call that the car will not start. Jumped in her car and drove the 20 minutes to Frederick to check it out. I arrived to find not...

    Trim Circuit Breaker

That is an odd ball part with limited application. Might be easier to swap out the relay block to one that uses industry standard fuses Found a couple of in electronics supply houses. https://teamequip.com/buss-maxi-19340-01p-1l-408848/

something new coming in electric OB

Developed for the Gemera four-seater, this electric motor, dubbed the Quark, is a tiny powerhouse. In a package that weighs just 63 pounds, the Quark develops 335 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. For scale, that's a 330-mL energy drink in the pictures seen throughout.

    GPS / speed app

I’ve used Speedometer Simple for quite a while. Surprised at the number of functions and accuracy for a free product A Google search turned up nothing for android. Looks like IOS only.

something new coming in electric OB

The short answer is steel on steel traction with huge weight to HP ratios. Much easier to control traction (torque) and speed electronically than with a gear box Reciprocating motors generate torque by rpm. To maintain a content torque, yet variable speed output, would require a sophisticated...

    sheet metal screw length

You don't "screw" anything on a boat. Vibration over time will loosen and cause the connection to fail. Every thing should be thru-bolted with generously sized washer to spread the load over a larger surface area

    Recommend a good semi-permanent rtv

One size doesn't fit all...... I would not install any "plastic intakes" parts using silicon RTV. You should use a Polyurethane sealants like 3M 4200 made specifically for the such applications. Nothing on my boat requires an RTV sealer so I'm not help there, but.....I do know that the sealant...

    RPM range question

Now I see why none of this made any sense. This is much smaller boat (OAL rated) with a very different hull design than most the 24’ Walkarounds marketed in the US by its competitors. The boat is light weight with a suprising shallow deadrise and limited fuel capabilites for a boat marketed...
