    Gimbal bearing/bellows?

Also have a 2003 Campion with no wood anywhere in its structure or finish. Agree.

    Mercury EFI 75

heard that often. As far as I know, only whipple have a license to map mercruiser ecus perhaps? Always wondered why it’s such a big deal with regards to this in particular. Given the hugely common practice of mapping ecu in the auto industry…as a comparison

    alpha 1 gen 2, 3.0 outdrive on 4.3

Hi. There are a few boats like this where the 3.0 and 4.3 ratios aren’t too far off each other (in some cases). Given the info above I’ve read makes sense of my thoughts. If I was to take a guess as a starter…I’d be going for a loan of a 23” to see what’s what. I think you’ll be fine doing...

    Gimbal bearing/bellows?

Yeah, most likely a sign in the uj being less than ideal. When the uj is anything other than at its least stressed angle of driven load position and anything less than good…she’ll make a grumbling. But even in good order, when hard down or up at at her extreme limits, she’ll make a noise...

    Mercury EFI 75

Interested in this post and I’m sure I’ve read it can be done somewhere. But perhaps wondering why you wouldn’t go to its full potential and the higher rating of 115hp ? I have the most powerful version of this engine in the 115 form. Almost sure the 75, 90, 100 and 115 are all the same 2.1l...

Way of getting antifreeze through the raw side of a kad32

In case anyone is interested…there are many questions around getting the raw water side of the kad32 drained and flushed with antifreeze. Not an easy thing to do the latter really. Silly set up with the raw water pump being before the sea strainer on these, as many will know. Was working on one...

    Overheating at 30mph

I think it’s worth checking that impeller again. Doesn’t take much to ruin them quickly. Especially if you had an attempt at running her on the muffs and hose before putting her in the water. Can be a 50/50 if these will pull water up from some muffs.

    Overheating at 30mph

If it is…an odds on favourite would be the cooler on the suction side of the raw water pump. Between the inner transom and the pump, some set ups have a cooler in line there. Not un common for air to be drawn there, but anytime I’ve seen it, it usually doesn’t prime at all

    Overheating at 30mph

Did it over heat before all the new parts ?

    Ignition sensor help

Is that definitely the right part for it ? Not like any I’ve seen. Looks from the Far East !

    Overheating at 30mph

Hi. What made you replace the riser and manifold in the first place ? Just in case we are missing something? Did you put the right gasket in between the riser and manifold ? There are variations on water flow set ups, between raw and closed cooling usually.

    2000 2760 duo-prop

What model of duo prop drives are they ? If they are 290 or similar ratio and ally props, you’ll be likely b4 or b5’s on twins. Not sure they make them anymore, so likely be j4 or j5’s maybe. All depends on your outdrives id say. The above post might be more applicable if so

That’s maybe not a great idea.

Nissan 25 hp length short or long?

Standard shaft. Also known as a short to be fair. Just some are like that back then

    At a loss

Hi. Be keen to hear more about the exact circumstances when it has the issue. Are we saying that you go from full throttle back to idle quickly and then it will die ? Does it happen if you pull back slowly ? Is it happening exactly when the following surge of water approaches the stern as the...

15HP Yamaha, 2017 era, any known weaknesses?

Don’t think so as long as it’s changed before it’s recommended interval. A timing belt on any marine engine can be a liability, I think. Better without them at all. But as long as it’s kept in service, should be ok.

    Midship bilge does not drain

Hi. If it’s what I suspect it is…is there not a drain plug (like a bung or gar plug) in there ? Boats like that with locker storage or ski lockers often have a plug you can put in there which means you can use it as a wet area or fill with ice to cool drinks etc. I certainly have a plug on my...

Hi. I’d check that you’re getting a charge from the engine back to battery.

    290 DP Prop Cone/Nut Torque

Amazingly, this very thing has happened to 3 people I know locally here. I also think that very often people forget that there is a retaining bolt in the nose cone. Common to break them it seems. I used to put a screw driver through the holes on the nose cone to tighten it up. Then tighten the...
