    Battery charger size needed

It's detrimental to the life expectancy of a battery to sit discharged for any length of time. Minimizing depth of discharge and recharging the battery ASAP is paramount to longevity of a battery

Most stable hull design for trolling in rough water

When trolling, the snap roll of a deep Vee will give you whiplash. A heavy, mod-V or continuously variable vee hull design is your best choice for trolling The sharp bow entry cuts the waves and a rather flat transom minimizes rocking on the troll.

Extending the life of primer bulbs and fuel hoses?

Yep...10 years on OEM primer bulb (Evinrude) and name brand (Trident), USCG type A1-15 hose

Hard time priming the fuel to the engine

Opinions on the internet are worth exactly what you paid for them.... Why not follow the manufacturer's recommendation of putting the "transfer pump" (primer bulb) on the vacuum side?

Hard time priming the fuel to the engine

Primer bulb needs to be downstream of the water separator. Otherwise you pump "debris" through the filter. My primer bulb is in the splash well. No more that 36" away from carb inlet, if that Do you have a anti-siphon valve on the fuel line? If not, and you have a vacuum leak, it's going to...

    Cheap Stereo Documentation Question

I simply added a Bluetooth adapter to my existing stereo/CD player and went 100% steaming with a Spotify Premium account. Full control from my Iphone. Use the "radio" simply as a power amp to drive the speakers

    Brake fluid

Well...dug into this a bit more. While its a sealed system down stream of the brake piston, the return circuit vents back to the reservoir which is open to the atmosphere. Problem being, brake fluid is hygroscropic. It absorbs moisture water sitting in the brake reservoir. Once the...

    Brake fluid

Make no sense a t all Hydraulic systems are sealed and air free. How does fluid evaporate from a sealed system? "Let's remember that the Department of Transportation specify the minimum wet boiling point of DOT brake fluids after absorbing only 3.7% water content (roughly 2 years service). In...

    Best Baitcasters For Saltwater Fishing

Got to assume "saltwater bass" = Stripers since there are more than a few "bass" of different species roaming around out there ;) Much prefer conventional and spinning reels in general for SW fishing. Tackle size depends on what size fish your chasing and their size. Stripers range in size...

Automatic battery combiner and charging question.

What is the point of a combiner if you still need to play with switches for it to work? What battery is the charger connected to? I can see issues if the charger is connected to the house battery. Mine could care less about pulse charging because of the dwell on the sense line Did you...

Automatic battery combiner and charging question.

Forgot the 80% efficiency rating. How about (75*0.8)/12.7= 4.72 amps, max. Does it do the same while charging off the motor? Did you install a Zap-Stop as suggested? I run a Blue Seas ACR which adds a time component to the open/close criteria to eliminate/minimize relay chatter. Your...

Automatic battery combiner and charging question.

Combiners work off voltage, not amperage. Typically they combine when charge voltage is above 13.3 volts and opens when the charge voltage drops below 13.0 volts Sounds like you have a voltage problem. What voltage is your charger putting out?

Boat starts perfect but shuts off after 20 mins of driving

Checked fuel pump operation? If OE, your looking at a 40 yro fuel pump. Certainly suspect Obviously "aftermarket" (PO) additions to the electrical system. Connectors are not to "code". Wouldn't bet a penny on proper color codes being used either. Having said that, black is ground. The wire...

Thinking about converting surge brakes to electric - Tri-Axle Trailer

Hydraulics is primarily a displacement game. Pump capacity needs to be sized to demand. A #10,000 psi unit is useless of it can't supply the required displacement.

    What size trailer winch?

Pretty easy to calculate the exact force required based upon the weight of the boat and the angle of the ramp, but the fact of the matter is that manual winches are limited in pull based on the user's arm strength. To keep the demand to a minimum, they lower the gear ratio making it easier to...

Fresh water corrosion and anode choices…

Set your voltmeter to read voltage. Select AC if meter is not auto ranging. Connect negative (-) probe to negative battery terminal. Stick/ touch the positive (+) probe to the water and check for voltage. If you get a reading, note voltage then switch meter over to read DC voltage. Anything...

Best grease hands down for that application if Evinrude Triple-Guard grease. Switching to Triple-Guard grease and the installation of a "Steering Guard" was some of the best money I've spent on the boat. Triple-guard works great on fishing reels as well :)
