    Reed valves are nowhere near the sparkplugs.----Each set is for one cylinder.-----You are running with black plugs on both cylinders.-----Find & correct the real issue.----Looked at the primer system ??

    Agreed ----laying a plug on the block and observing some spark is a waste of time !-----Must be a reason why some ignition systems can jump a gap of 1/2"

    Sure it is a Suzuki ?----Have not seen a model # on this one.-----Not sure if EVINRUDE marketed the rebranded Suzuki 9.9 models.----Johnson did for a few years.

    That motor will troll / idle all day long with no issues.----Test thermostat.----Check the primer / manual or electric.

    Looks to be the right kit if lower unit is original to a 79 model.----Did you pressure test after you installed the kit ?-----Pressure test now to find out what is leaking .

    The new products are very expensive , overly complicated.-----Difficult to service and repair compared to an older simpler technology.----Amazing how parts for these new motors ( all brands ) have been listed as NLA.

    Float valve is leaking.-----Gentle tap with butt of a screwdriver may work to loosen a suck needle valve.

    The gasket will be fine.-----It takes an amazing amount of effort to turn that impeller !

    A product called----LUMIWELD-----or similar will fix this.----An aluminum brazing rod.-----color will be different than the aluminum of your pontoons.----A darker shade once weatherized ( is that a word ? ) after a while.

    No need for a sealer in my opinion.----If any air leaks , it will be replaced when engine is running.

    I understood how this was made / worked back in 1968.----There are no mystery parts on a CD model for me.

    That pin drives the mechanical seal under the powerhead.----Very important.-----Need to look up there to see a slot for the pin to go through.

    Sometimes an adhesive is used to hold parts in position during assembly.-----Once assembled they serve no purpose.

    The primer VALVE is not used to adjust mixture.---I think you need to revisit carburetor cleaning.-----Or consider the simple task of removing cylinder head to inspect in there.-----Compression values are LOW on your motor.

    Carburetor has nothing to do with starting.----Are you pushing in the key in while cranking it over ?-----The electric primer valve puts fuel directly into the intake air.----This fuel bypasses the metering circuits of the carburetors.
