    Starter switch might foot operated , right above the gas pedal.----My 1940 Plymouth was like that.----Dimmer was also foot operated on many cars.

    Are you turning the prop when shifting ?-----There is a detent and it does require some effort to put it into gear from neutral.

    How do you know it is a " blown head gasket " ??----Sellers guess ?----If it truly is a blown head gasket and clean it might be a good deal.----There are different models.----Even an air cooled one.----Any idea of serial # or a picture?

    Looks like new chain is needed as well.-----Look for non stainless nuts / pieces inside the hull.

    On a project boat I replaced the rotten wood block for the bow eye.-----Installed a second eye for safety chain.----Used solid glass salvaged material.------No more wood for me.
