    Number of turns of magnet wire in the primary and secondary determine coil performance.-----Order the correct coil for the motor.

    You can see the smoke and exhaust leaking in the first video.----That would have been the clue to find the exhaust leak.

    I think the linkage that opens throttle plate has a cam bushing.----Look for it / find it and adjust as needed.

    Spray some extra oil into carburetors while running.----Should make it easier to find exhaust leakage.-----My bet is on plug wires or sparkplug boots as the issue.----Replacing plug boots is what I would do first.

    1991 Johnson 8hp tiller shifting

    If it is the original lower unit there is no clutch dog.-----Shift uses drive balls.----With kids running this motor they may have damaged them.----Easy to take apart for inspection

    What is the model # of this problem motor ???-----A thermostatic coil might exist on a 1964 model !!!-----There may not be choke flappers or choke linkages on a 1990 model !

    The wiring harness from the motor is only to be used for the motor and tachometer !!-----No radio / fish finder or other stuff at all.

    Well----All those carburetor kits makes it obvious that it is not a fuel issue.-----Take a close look at all wiring.----Run with a timing light to see if you can pinpoint a spark failure.

    That 6 HP is one of the sweetest running motors you can find.-----That recoil is common from about 1965 to 79 6 HP models.-----And a similar unit was used up to 1992 as well.----Beware of lower unit bushing above the pinion gear.-----Easily damaged if water got in.
