200 hpdi compression. Good or no good

You run tuner at idle. Let it sit, preferably over night, then put it in the water and run it hard to blow things out. Make sure you add ring-free to the fuel per the manual. Good VST maintenance is a must with these motors Ran twin 150s for a guy for a number of years. Good engines but are...

    1991 mercury sounding rough? fixes?

The only portion of the leg of the motor that is sealed is the gearbox. Everything else is open to atmosphere to facilitate drainage as evidenced by the hole the water is coming from The only way to get pressurized water in that location is a compromised water tube or a leaking exhaust chamber...

    1991 mercury sounding rough? fixes?

Not hearing or seeing anything out of the norm for an outboard of that era. The water is a different story. Don't know that particular motor, but I would check to make sure water tube from pump isn't rotten out and or the rubber grommet is missing or damaged if it has one

    Spray from the outboard

I would expect a lot of spray given it looks like your ventilation plate is 1" or 2" higher in the front than the back

200 hpdi compression. Good or no good

Within 10% is the quoted norm 119*0.9 =107 You can run some engine tuner through it to see if you have stick ring(s). Otherwise, your options are a rebuild or run it until it dies and start over

    Bilge pump wiring

Still don't understand your logic. I'm using a 2 position, 3 way switch. The exact same functionality as yours. It's either in auto mode or manual (running) How do you prevent yours from being left in run position when you leave the boat?

Tell tale getting clogged '96 200hp Oceanrunner

Must be a light boat. Flow Scan = 31 mph @ 4400 rpm = 1.9 mpg in good conditions. That works out to roughly 16.2 gph. In the rough I've seen 1.2 mpg

    Bilge pump wiring

Good engineering practice dictates not powering a circuit from multiple power sources. Too many things can go wrong Prefer to wire a single power source to a dry location (back of switch) then use the 3 way functionally of the switch to distribute power as needed Not sure I understand......why...

The attachment is from the Owner's/ Operator's manual. I'll look in the OEM service this evening. Never bothered to look there since the Owner's manual had instructions on it's use. Like I said, I put 1500+ hours on the first power head before the water passages in the head eroded out...

Tell tale getting clogged '96 200hp Oceanrunner

Your simply reversing the flow of water through the power head. Instead of coming in through the water pump, it's going out the water pump

    Bilge pump wiring

Bilge pump circuit should be wired directly to the battery to prevent this situation Sounds like bad pump switch Your shorting the manual and override circuits connecting them together. You must have a 3 way switch for it to work. It doesn't matter, Ground is Ground.

Intermittent electrical none start no Accessories power, power returns by its self

Intermittent power problems are easy to track as long as your systematic and don't make any assumption with your troubleshooting. You always start at the source (battery) with power problems. If you have power there, move to the next device, ie main circuit breaker. Circuit breakers are...

Tell tale getting clogged '96 200hp Oceanrunner

Two power heads and 20+ years of ownership. Never had muffs on my motor The system is designed to be (back) flushed using the flush port. Run it on the flush port to blow the stuff out Should have 30 psi in the water on a fresh water pump rebuild

Anyone familiar with Hynautics Hydraulic Steering?

Yep, the end caps screw off.

Tell tale getting clogged '96 200hp Oceanrunner

You running on muffs? Have you tried using the flush port to see if that gets rid of the problem?

Anyone familiar with Hynautics Hydraulic Steering?

It appears to be a "sealed" (can't rebuild) cylinder although replacement cost is a bit steep for a throw away cylinder. Have you tried twisting the end caps off the ends of the tube? https://www.ezyglide.com/replacement-parts

    Bilge pump wiring

You need a 3 way switch to have manual (override) and auto mode on a single switch Can either wire power to pump and switch ground for control or... wire ground to switch and switch power for control

When you're 20 miles from home and see this bearing down on you...

Imagine seeing that coming towards you trolling a 18 rod spread on planer boards....lol The small popcorn storms are not an issue unless accompanied with by lightening. Had carbon fiber (fishing) rods rattle in the rack more than once. It's the frontal boundaries passing through in late fall...

    Fuel problem survives engine replacement

Check to see if someone removed the anti-siphon valve from the fuel tank. If you have the slightest leak whatsoever in the fuel delivery system the fuel will siphon back into the fuel tank over time
