    Speedometer

pretty sure your gen 1 alpha may be before the pitot tube connection. just spend $20 on a new plastic pitot pickup and tube and replace the line to the dash. https://www.amazon.com/Speedometer-Universal-Automatic-Kick-up-Assembly/dp/B08F35XJRD?th=1

Is it safe to replace the engine circulator pump in the water?

except those pliers do not work on the hard hose before a pump. However the cap from a WD40 spray can will usually fit within the end of the hose and stop the water from coming in.

Is it safe to replace the engine circulator pump in the water?

if its an alpha drive, then the water line from the transom shield goes up and over the SWL prior to entering the thermostat housing and ultimately the block. if its a bravo drive, the raw water line may be at the SWL or below and would need to be blocked off.

    i have a 1985 170 horizon 140 hp

a 40 year old fiberglass boat....... its worth more to you than what you could sell it for. you may get $200, you may get $2000 for that one special buyer that has a sentimental attachment to a 40 year old entry level boat (like maybe his grandparents had one) depends on your location and if...

    Ethanol free gas for Mercruiser

not a chance of that happening. E10 has been around for over 34 years. in fact Henry Ford used ethanol for fuels over 100 years ago. now, some stations that have blend pumps have had issues where the E10 was actually closer to e40. and anything over 10% ethanol on small engines (lawn mowers...

Carb intakes for LS are on amazon for $140 they are chinese knock-offs of the holley and edelbrock that is only $350 Ls exhaust manifolds are less than SBC manifolds from BARR, etc. Crusader, Indmar, Ilmore and VP have all used the LS since it came out for ignition, there is the front timing...

    08 bayliner 3.0

No, the inline motor fuel pump rides directly on a cam lobe Test from a portable tank. You could have pickup issues

    saltwater 5.0 weak points

Today, if I was repowering a boat, I would most likely get low mileage LS or LT 6.2s from a u-pull-it, run a carb and install a heat exchanger and have 375-400hp for about $2500-3000 installed To build an SBC 6.2 today to that level will cost $4k just for a long block

    Closed Circuit Cooling

Depends on drive. Alpha or Bravo? Water enters the drive, goes thru the pump then thru the HX. Water exits the exhaust Post a serial number and someone can post the specific diagram

    saltwater 5.0 weak points

5.0 heads are 58cc with small valves 5.7 heads are 64cc with big valves. The 5.0 motors are not worth that much as they are $300 from u-pull-it yards Cost to rebuild a SBC has gotten stupid lately

Even the dry joint manifolds fail in salt water taking out the motor. Intake manifold and heads can rot thru Having twins, my guess this was a moored boat? If you got it cheap enough, throw two 350 short blocks in there and add heat exhangers

    Windmill boat bettery charging

Sail boats use small wind turbines. Basically an alternator with a fan blade, mounted to a bit of aluminum square tube and a triangle of aluminum sheet metal for a tail fin. Usually mounted so they can turn with the wind They are noisy and generally used when the vessels are moored or...
