Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

I use Rock auto for car parts themselves. Oil filters for my little car are $1.50 each and the trucks are in the $3 range. My recent full brake job on my truck was $250 with good quality stuff. Woulda been $500 at the parts store

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Amazon has a lot of tools that Harbor Freight carries as well just cheaper. I recently bought a brake disc kit as my old kit only had a standard LH adapter ( for turning in rear Ford calipers ). The Icon kit is $60 and the Amazon kit with the same parts and magnetic adapters was $23. Little...

    Just curious

Yeah. Every once in a while I come across idiots. This summer my boat got rocked by a group of 20 something’s drinking, pulling a skier down a section of the eerie canal. They were reported by multiple people to DNR. I didn’t even have to when I got back to the dock.

    johnson 20hp electric start

Yup. 20-35hp twins were built from 77- 05 or so. Just use IPLs for the years/models you’re thinking of to confirm. There are a few differences in designs and parts through the years

Not every bar is greasable. If they are, there’s a little hole near the tip. Takes a chainsaw greaser

    Volvo Penta vs Mercruiser

My dad’s 73 Chief 21’ would run into the 40s on calm water with 140hp Mercruiser. They don’t weigh anything.. The B20 is adequate but antiquated.

    Winterize carb

If you wanted to flush the carb out with anything, flush it with true fuel which because of how it’s made, lasts much longer than regular gas. It’s Alkylate fuel.

Chainsaw cutting lube in a pinch

No but it helps keep it from stretching and keeps the bar happy. A tight chain will cut better

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Your stringers are missing. Probably someone’s attempt at adding structure on a redo. you need to bed and tab in stringers. Full gut job as there’s nothing holding your boat together

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Brand on a 39 year old boat won’t matter, even if it was top of the line in 1985 that won’t translate to any better condition since it’s known that boats rot from the inside out

Adding Distilled water to battery. what qualifies as distilled?

Distilled means distilled. Boiled and steam collected, and condensed. Its not expensive at the grocery store… that said I’m sure tap water has been used in a battery or 2 through the years

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

I/O boats are are never easy to work on. The stringer drive transfers the thrust directly to the stringers. It doesn’t put much pressure on the transom under way, so the mounts are tied to the stringers. You can’t change that. And you need to make sure that the stringers are solid. The black...

Took advantage of a nice day.

here in Ny. I don’t think the lakes are freezing too fast. Kind of makes me want to take a winter lap around the small local one. But I’d have to drive an hour in the opposite direction to pick up the boat from inside winter storage
