    My OMC/BRP original Prestolite caps & even Sierra aftermarket caps come with gaskets. Not sure why Merc doesn’t use one… That said I can get thru a season with my boat on a salt water mooring & it will show very little green corrosion after 6 months out there that can easily be cleaned off.

    I've always greased my rollers and springs and never left a sheen. Now when that power steering actuator leaked and the bilge pump kicked on after it rained, that was a sheen. Fixed that one right away, was not a fun job but had to be done.

    Winterizing 4.3

    The 5th plug is only on '96 and up Vortec engines, the pre-Vortec did not have a drain there. Make sure to poke all the drains esp in the cast iron block and manifolds because they can get rust clogged and might not drain. Here's a pic of the 5th drain plug....
