    Depends on the local market ?----Depends on if you can do your own repair work.-----Or do you have a dealer / boat shop that works on these motors.----So what is your location ?----What is the asking price ?-----These motors are no longer made and many shops will not work on them.

    Motor appears to be a 77 model.-----If you get this boat , it will likely need some work under the floor.-----Looks simpler than many fancy boats.

    It seems the extra long models have a different set-up than long models.----If I had the parts in front of me it might be easy to figure out.---I have some long models to look at but no extra long in the shed.-----Sorry.

    If a compression test is good it should be last for many years.----Install a new water pump impeller if you become the proud owner.

    There is a hole covered by top part of the recoil.-----Maybe just needs a new gasket there.

    Hook up a timing light.----One cylinder at a time.------you want steady flashing of the light.

    Looks like pre-ignition damage on #1 piston.-----Or overheating.----Many of these in line six motor need a new impeller every 3 years or so.----Many do not have an overheat warning horn either.

    You installed the correct factory impeller?----Measured to fit the different diameter shaft on these motors ?----Removed exhaust cover ?-----Perhaps there is a hole in it.

    Is the water in your test bucket 6" above the impeller ?

    So you did not inspect the washer at the top of the tube ?

    They made a 5" coupler for the water tube.----At $50 it sounds like a farmer used a cheaper option.----Might just remove what is there and measure to see if it will reach into the water pump grommet.----You ordered a new short shaft or used ?

    That is where water is supposed to leak out into the exhaust.-----I suspect and have seen it more than once that plastic washer at the top of the water tube is melted.----Remove powerhead to inspect this.----The replacement factory washer is now a better quality.-----I keep some on hand myself.
