115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Is that numbers from the vessel view data ? Totally different boat I have…but same engine. I run a 19 and a 20” prop on the CT box. But different boat all together. What type of 15” is on it now again ? Is the trim used and is the height of the engine correct ? Any pics of the set up ? Sounds...

2001 Optimax SmartCraft Wiring / Questions

No probs. I’ll get a look in about it within a day or two. Never actually looked at the set up it has. Was all there when I bought it. I fitted the smart craft to the mercruiser mpi boat though. Being a 2003. It needed a yellow terminator cap to work. Came with purple originally. That was for...

2001 Optimax SmartCraft Wiring / Questions

No worries. If you’re still struggling with it tomorrow. I’ll go look at the set up on my smartcraft gauges in the merc outboard I have. Just let me know if you want photos

2001 Optimax SmartCraft Wiring / Questions

Is 2001 maybe a little early for smartcraft? I know it is on inboards anyway. But sounds like you have the network there to plug things into. So could be wrong. What I do know around the terminator thing…is that some early compatible engines need to change terminator caps to the newer type. So...

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

Don’t think it should smell of fuel once it’s warmed up. They do when cold though.

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

I think you might squeeze a little more top end with a well set up stainless prop. But ultimately a 70hp on its best day is only really going to see late 30’s…40 at best without skiing and running light. So add a skier and gear and your likely down closer to 30. Ok for normal skiing but mono...

    Getting the most horse power

I think the main issue is that you have tbi controlled by an ecu (I think). If you went mpi you’ll either need to spend a fortune on the top end injection system and ecu. Probably about as much as making it worth while to get a stroker or an mpi whole engine used. I’m in a similar situation...

Starboard exhaust manifold warmer and inspecting

very common thing to be honest..water will flow to the path of least resistance...causes this effect. Try pumping one tyre up, haha.

    1988 Yamaha Excel 225 - Help needed

It would be amazing if it was just that the lanyard kill switch had been pulled ! Thought I’d throw the obvious one in there. On a side note…I think it’s extremely rare and almost unheard of for a yam like this to have it’s actual oil pump fail. More common might be for the fittings, pipes or...

    Yam 85 Losing Power.-

I don’t have a manual I’m afraid. But I’ve known loads of these era of Yamaha engines. Had loads and have 3 of that era currently. At that age, they just don’t have any sort of protection like that on them. You can literally scream that engine full throttle with no cooling to it…and it will keep...

    prop for pontoon

Props aren’t generally known to cause overheat. Unless you mean it’s causing the engine to over rev significantly sky high. It may be more likely your engine height setting is the cause of the overheat perhaps.

    Yam 85 Losing Power.-

It is a temp sensor. But there is no way it limits anything. It just alarms at best. There are no safe or limiting features on this engine at all. All the best.

    Outdrive Leaking Oil

Got you. There will be oil up there when it’s running. It’s kind of splash lubricated when in operation. So oil thrown everywhere really. Know what you mean though.

    Yam 85 Losing Power.-

if it helps...there isn't a slow or safe mode on this engine. great engines...probably one of the best...I would suspect fuel delivery issue, as long as she has compression and is able to run well otherwise and for a period of time up until the issue shows.

    New prop advice 2014 Bayliner 185, 3.0L

I think if you’re coming to any sort of useful conclusion on props…it’s best to use GPS at least. Just around the speed you have there. 46 mph would be exceptional for that set up. I’d be amazed if you managed to turn a 21” of any sort to nearly 5000 rpm with a 3.0 on that boat. Gauges are I...

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

no worries...just a tiny thing on the injectors..although they can test as good when removed from the engine..that wouldn't rule out one not operating as a result of a failure in the system that supplies power for them to operate. unlikely the issue perhaps.

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

along the lines of my thinking too, Lou. water, full bore open injector or lack of ignition perhaps. you'd imagine if it was washed as a result of steam or water after the head blowing...the unit next to it might suffer the same effect..thats if it even suffered a blow that included the water...
