    The tester may have shown 65 PSI but there was zero pressure in the cylinder.

    There is just 1 screw.----Adjust one way makes it better.---If not go the other way.---Fairly easy in my opinion

    The shift rod does NOT turn on these.----------There is no adjustment at the brass connecter either.----So are the notches on the shift rods both lined up with holes in the connecter.-----The only adjustment is at the shift lever.

    Hopefully you installed a new water pump impeller.----If equipped with a plastic piece to open the throttle n, it might be broken.----I do not believe it is a fuel pump issue.

    You would like to see 125 PSI.----If you have that and one cylinder at 105 there issues.----These motors all suffer from broken piston rings.

    Agreed the " ocean runner " models had a few key parts / hardware made with stainless.

    The 2 engines are totally different.-----You need the manual for the 90 degree block.------Do a compression test and post your numbers before spending any beer tokens on this motor.----Ignore the ---S--- as it means very little.

    Agreed.----And a local dealer would / should help you find those rings.----No need to resort to getting stuff from overseas in my opinion.-----I have new rings on hand for one of these simple projects.

    Driveshaft/pinion gear removal issues

    Water pump is removed ?----I can not see.------The issue may well the bearing under the water pump housing.-----I have had to pour boiling water on that area ( both sides) to heat the aluminum so the bearing slides out.----Heating the pinion is not the correct approach in my opnion.

    They use type C- oil.----But using a different gear oil does not cause immediate damage !!---Will still shift fine !!--On more than one occasion I have shown folks what is wrong with a mechanical device.-----Only to have folks indicate that I am wrong.-----They are still struggling and replacing...

    Looks to me that damaged parts were replaced.----And the cause of the damage was overlooked.----Fairly easy for me to say.---Note----I was working at a Johnson dealer in 1968

    I believe at 65 PSI it was in good condition and no need to tear this motor down.

    Why not repair this simple gearcase ?---It is so easy.
