    Late 60s Starcraft Jupiter

Plywood is best. Starboard will work but is spendy. Trex and other crap wont

Craftsman T1000 tractor mower ,blades not engaging

That is an MTD built tractor. Usually MTD tractors engage the deck by lowering it and the belt tightens. They fail to engage when the linkage gets sloppy. A cracked deck at the mandrels will do it too

    Quality Bullet Connectors

I don't think quality bullet connectors exist anymore. I'm restoring a 1971 Honda CB 500/4 that uses a bullet connector for every connection. I may change the harness even though it is 90% ok because of a couple burned connections. Good connectors just don't exist.... If they do Amphenol...

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

I know, that's what I was kind of getting at. An OMC 3.0L is bad enough

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

    Too windy?

I've been out on a 24' boat on Lake Ontario where it was very windy and waves were running 3-5' with a small craft advisory. One boat had went down that day, and we saw some of the wreckage... Fished all day with the waves and it was not a bad day at all... BUT that is not something I would do...

    Help omc seadrive trim issues!

If there are no leaks, the cylinders are probably leaking internally, or a valve is bypassing in the trim pump.. Unless it's really bad, I would just use a transom saver to hold up the motor and finish out the season. have the system serviced in the off season. The system could entirely fail and...

    V drive noise

Well, you've got twin engines, so at least you'll make it home... That sounds ugly I'd find an RV-50 that matches the other one. I know nothing about V drives except it shouldn't sound like that. That's bearings and gears eating themselves

    1969 Glassmaster 17' trihull

It's the old 3.8L/ 225. The same design team that built the 215 Aluminum block V8 did the V6 IIRC and some of the tooling is the same. Being a 1969 boat, the motor would have been aquired from Kaiser who bought the rights and tooling to put them in Jeeps and other industrial applications in...

    Carb cleaner

Run a 2 stroke lean at 10,000 RPM's and see what happens. The stuff works ok on a lawnmower. It can save a carb that is slightly gummed up if you can still get some flow through the main jet, it'll clean it up. But I would never try it on a 2 stroke or any other high revving engine. You'll be...

Info on Mercruiser 0A494867 170Hp engine.

If the boat is nice, and the engine runs good, it's worth it. 4.3L replaced the 3.7L and is what the boat would have come with if it were built after 1990 A good tune up wouldn't hurt it if it runs and does not overheat... The cooling system on a 3.7L needs to be kept up to 100% all the time...

Info on Mercruiser 0A494867 170Hp engine.

Yes, it is an alternator, but not in the traditional sense, which is why he couldn't locate it

Info on Mercruiser 0A494867 170Hp engine.

It's not really an alternator on that engine. It is but it isn't. It's basically an outboard stator on the front of the engine. There are alternator kits for it as it's really horrible the way they came from the factory

    Trailer tires dryrotting again

Well, beads are ~ok~, we have them at my shop for an as needed basis. If you put those cheap tires on a balancer, you'll find they are out of round, terrible runout and would take a bunch of weight to balance traditionally. You won't notice as much harmonics on a truck as you will a car.. We...
