    Boat and trailer length

My dad launched and retrieved a 21' Starcraft Chieftain with a 1993 D21 pickup. Actually that truck and trailer/ boat combo traveled 300 miles every weekend through the summer for 3-4 years. It was technically legal, as the dry weight was within the legal limit but fuel and fishing gear did put...

    Boat and trailer length

For whatever trailer you have, the boat sits from the transom on the edge of the bunks forward, to wherever the winch post needs to be, and then the axle can be slid to adjust tongue weight. It sounds like you might be more comfortable with a modern trailer with a longer tongue.

2 cycle oil for my garden tools

A friend of mine was gifted a Poulan Predator chainsaw he wanted to give to his wife later that day. I cleaned it up for him and repaired the recoil, then we realized he was out of 2 stroke oil. I mixed up some 5w30 and gas at 16:1, and that's all she ever ran through it after that point. He...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

I was wondering that. Seemed like you could pick it out without driving the bushing. I may have bought the bushing though, I don't remember

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

what special tools do I need for this? I watched a video using pretty much all the special tools, but I don't even know where to look, or even if they are needed. I have the 1966 Suppliment manual but could not find the main manual referenced. Found an old Clymer manual for $6 to have something

Intake Valve Coking on Direct Injected Gas Engines: Fact or Myth?

Yup, it's a major problem. Ford redesigned most of their Ecoboost engines with partial indirect injection to combat the issue

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Yeah, my consideration was using the West marine bottle, I wouldn't even consider leaving broken glass at a public boat launch. I just don't know how many nanny's/ Karen's there are out there that would have an issue with even that.

    Boat Windshield Wiper

Unless your boating in the salt, don't worry about marine wiper blades or being stainless ect... It's probably about a 12" standard J hook wiper. You can likely find the wiper you need at Walmart, or anywhere that sells wipers.. Car's get wet all the time, so buying some special marine wiper is...

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

What is proper way to christen a boat at the boat launch? I have named the boat after someone, and they are going to be the one to smash the bottle.. The only thing is, do I really need to smash a bottle of champagne? Or even pour it over the bow? It's only champagne but seems like park police...

Anyone own a big hardtop Chief?

I grew up on the yellow 21' Mark IV. That was my dads fishing boat of choice for many years. Some of the original interior remained for a while, and actually my dad bought it as a total wreck, where a tree fell on the cabin.. He jacked up the cabin and carefully worked the trim, to the point...

    1994 mercruiser 454 What oil/filter to use

Keep in mind, the oil really should be a marine type oil, or a race engine oil, or just an oil with a high zinc content in a correct viscosity... Your 454 Chevy truck shifts into overdrive at ~55 mph and then cruises at 2k RPM or so.. Your 454 boat cruises at 3,500 or so unless you wanna go...

6 Gallon OMC Metal Fuel Tank

I think you would have to try hard and use way too much to do that.

6 Gallon OMC Metal Fuel Tank

There isn't any reason you cannot solder that crack.. I was thinking you meant it was split in half, in which case soldering it together, or as others noted just patch it with rubber hose... But the crack the way it is. sand it with fine sandpaper, apply some flux and solder it with plumbers...

How to build back to back seats.

Some of the early 60's SC runabout's DID have bench seats as an optional floor plan.. I would buy the Wise seats and build 6" bases for them. I put them in my '66ish Holiday 14 OB but the 8" bases they come with are a little too tall for the boat. My boat had 2 fisherman benches, but they...

6 Gallon OMC Metal Fuel Tank

Looks like used only at this point and a $$$ item at that. Cheaper to buy a new tank. But you can solder copper.. Run a fish wire up the tube to use as a reamer and solder the crack

    1948 FD??

Alumacraft knows I would say. Very few companies would have that information, let alone bother to give it to you. Alumacraft is one of the few companies that will.. They must have had at least proof that production went back to 1947 for that hand written document to be made

Help! Can't find HIN on Chris Craft Scorpion 210

I think the requirement was/ is to put the HIN in 2 places. One hidden, and one in the standard spot on the transom. Only one of my boats is new enough to have a HIN, and it's my parts boat. I found a tag under the dash with the HIN while ripping out the cluster and controls
