    I’d think you’d need to be over 100 to be acceptable on health. I know my old 2.0 V6 2 stroke is around 118-120 psi on a calibrated gauge. That would be at the strong end of things I’d think.

    My issue is around getting the exact same reading for all 6 cylinders. In all the engines I’ve pressure tested..I’ve never seen identical figures across all cylinders like that. So strange.

    Agree. I’d also throw in that VP not long ago suggested (for your average temps boating) a choice of 30w, 20-50 and 15-50…just to confuse things a little 😂

    Is there a chance it’s not fuel related perhaps ? Is it definitely showing tell tale signs of fuel starvation? Like lean popping ? Could this be ignition related as a result of voltage or Diz cap or similar

    8 hp mariner

    Hi. One of the most reliable and long lived engines ever made, in my opinion. That mariner you have is actually a Yamaha engine. Identical to the Yamaha 8hp of the same era. Most were aged around late 70’s to early 80’s. Later in the 80’s the mariner 8 was changed to a mercury engine.

    Amazing that it’s 93 psi on all 6. I’d 100% get another gauge onto it before doing anything else drastic.
