    Santa brought me Smart Tabs.

I’m not familiar with the boat or it’s make (being from the U.K.). But she looks similar to a lovely century boat that used to be in my marina years ago. Also has the look of some classic crestliner I’ve seen too. Lovely classic lines for sure.

Haha. Looks a lovely boat, I think. The doel fin removal will make her all the lovelier !

Doel fins are the devil’s work.

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

Must admit…I do admire guys like yourself, who keep these things running and running well. Fair play. I’d be inclined to do similar myself perhaps. But thinking about your average fella who might find himself owning one of these…the type of fella who just wants to turn up and turn the key every...

Not sure many won’t have had their mounts undone at somepoint

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

I hope it’s ok for you. Really do. But they are famous around the world for their issues. Even mercury abandoned them after a few years of disasters. If you are keeping it, I fitted an alternator kit to one years ago (before it blew up the second time) much better than the old stator system...

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

I think we all know it’s the unfortunate truth of it. Only guys that insist on keeping these things running…are guys that spend more time with fixing the thing, than using the thing. As for the power being closer to a v6…not with the head warped and pissing steam all over the place, they don’t...

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

Hi. Read through the whole thing just there. Are you aware of the infamous issues with these engines ? If there is any doubt about its mechanical health, throw a good used 3.0 in there instead. If that 3.7 isn’t broken now, it will be soon…then again and again after that. Disaster of a thing.

    Swell, waves, and period

Hi. Having spent 10 years working and living on the sea in my early days…occasionally boating on the family big boat in the sea (Wild West coast of Scotland) and from day one to the present day sustained, on the fresh water loch I’ve boat on and was brought up on too….I can perhaps tell you my...

Early 80’s merc 2.0 150 V6 brown band clamshell black max ratio

No matter what age she is…she’s sure a strong old engine. On the wee cvx16, so far she’s hit 66.6 mph GPs with a 23” ballistic. But still over 6000 rpm at least. Hoping to try a 25” soon. Quite sure there is 70 mph to come from her at least.

Early 80’s merc 2.0 150 V6 brown band clamshell black max ratio

Yeah. It’s exactly like that. Identical. That’s the decals it originally had too.

    Long or short shaft

Each to their own for sure. I’ve spent a bit of time messing with engine heights. Just thought I’d add what I’d found to be best set up. My 19ft cuddy with merc 115 ct is currently running at its best with the AV plate around an inch or so above the lower line of the hull. On the other end of...

Weird one eh. I know my 2016 merc outboard runs really cool (as it’s meant to) runs about 130 or less.

Early 80’s merc 2.0 150 V6 brown band clamshell black max ratio

Hi chris. This swings open from the front, after releasing the two catches. Then opens up clamshell style to each side. The decals are also deceiving. These are the late 80’s decals as far as I can tell. But it originally had brown decals as far as I know. Looks slightly different underneath too.
