    2008 blue water edge v8 8.1L 425hp reliable boat?

Lovely boat. Very powerful boat too. All GM V8’s are reliable as long as they are well looked after.

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI 2013. Crank but no start.

Keen to hear what this is. Must admit. Reading just the first post...screamed of the usual battery not 100% issue that mpi are well known for. As in...perfectly healthy cranking...but starter taking the power enough for the ignition system not to want to try to fire...until the key is let go...

    Mercruiser part; what is it?

    Very impressive AD...as always. Brilliant.

Starting point for correct prop for cabin cruiser

I think so Barry. Unless I’m being completely daft and missing something. Just about the rpm range Barry. Where did those figures come from ? And am I right assuming when you said “300” you mean 300hp ? Im not the man to ask, but loads of guys on here will be able to tell you exactly what...

    DuoProp choice ?

Ok. Do what you like then. Think we have been over this conundrum a few times now.

Starting point for correct prop for cabin cruiser

Honestly. There is just no possible way a 22” is right for this boat. Not a chance. To put some perspective on this. I have quite a serious performance boat for its type. It’s 18ft. Weighs about 1400kgs. Has about 300hp merc mpi. Has a similar ratio of 1.47. At 67 mph it will run a 21” aired...

    1992 Bayliner Cuddy 3.0 Mercruiser

I’ll have to admit. These actually have pretty decent hulls on them for a bayliner. Fair play. Really needs a 4.3 though. Many came with the 3.0 and fo just fine though.

Sport Craft 232 and Outdrive Trim Problem

Hold in the button and trim up at same time. Should work.

Opinions on shop's quoted Bravo 3 maintenance cost

I’ve always half joked...that to repair or fully service a bravo...you could almost buy a new alpha one...each time 😂

Starting point for correct prop for cabin cruiser

Without even hearing anything about how she performs as she is. I can almost certainly tell you just from when I got to the bit about 1.5 ratio and 25” pitch...jeez. The set up you describe...I’m amazed it’s even getting to 4000 rpm. just another wee thing. Is that rpm range Defo correct ...

Updating the motor on an old boat

Sounds like a candidate for a lovely late model yamaha 2 stroke 60hp thrown on the back. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a lovely one from the early 2000’s. She’ll last for half a century or more...going by how long the early ones are showing us to date. Still loads of similar Yamaha 2 strokes still...
  12. Q

    DuoProp choice ?

Likely said this before...but quite unusual to hear of an original set up VP DP to be wrongly propped. Were those numbers with the dealer testing it out or yourself ? I presume there is nothing your missing to see more rpm from her ? Like trim tabs left down (if you have them), outdrive is...

1988 Merc 200 HP Smoking during warmup.

I just don’t get why you wouldn’t run tcw3 oil on an engine that calls for it. Madness otherwise.

1988 Merc 200 HP Smoking during warmup.

All I’m saying is that some synthetic oil is purely designed for Di engines. And some of them aren’t tcw3 rated oil. That’s a fact. I for one...would not be running anything that’s not tcw3 in any old school big V6 2 stroke. Not a chance. It’s totally different stuff. It’s fed around the engine...

1988 Merc 200 HP Smoking during warmup.

Make sure it’s tcw3, whatever you do. Some synthetic isn’t.

Cheers bondo. It’s a bravo 3 he has on her. Appreciate the advice. Brilliant.

Fuel burn with 5.7 LX mercruiser, 24' Boat

Scott. Just thought I’d ask. I’ve a friend who is building a 383 stroker (not a common thing here). What the min carb he would need on that ? You reckon ? It’s getting built for around or just shy of 400 hp, he reckons. Think the cam is for 5800 rpm or so. Internals all built too. cheers Scott.

Mercury 3.5hp 4 stroke oil leak into carb

Hi. after sorting many issues on a non running one of these, after lots of issues found, oil in carb from sump was certainly the main issue. I presumed from it being stored on its wrong side way up. Won’t bore you with all the things that were wrong with it. But long story short. Got it running...
