    New Boat

Maybe being fussy...but I think something about the numbers isn’t right. As in. One of or more, of the indications of speed, rpm or ratio is not showing accurate

Totally agree. Best point made yet !

    New Boat

In saying that. If it’s on the limiter with an 11” prop...no real way of assuming what it needs like I just did. It could easily hit the limiter with a 13 too. My 2.38 ratio CT will hit the limiter at 6150 exactly with a 19” tempest. And just about 6000 rpm running light with a 20” enertia.

    New Boat

2.38 ratio on my CT. likely different gearbox on the smaller CT like this though. Still think a black max 13” will be ideal.

    1990 4 hp yamaha 2 stroke

Would take a while for a 4hp to go through a 100 gallon tank. Haha. Yeah most small outboards that size have a built in gravity tank of about half a gallon or under. Sometimes an option to run a remote tank too on 4hp though.

Looking for best 2 cycle motor

Probably can’t go wrong with a 2.0 merc v6 either. Not much difference in weight to most 115’s.

    new to winterizing inboard Mercruiser

If it’s an mpi. Don’t spray fogging oil in it...as said. I mix 50-1 or 40-1 roughly. The manual from memory suggests a little stronger, but I don’t like the idea of any more than I do. I might also add that in general...best not to induct AF in through the outdrive. Recipe for disaster to the...

Looking for best 2 cycle motor

Without doubt. There just isn’t a better 2 stroke around this size, than the yamaha v4 series. 115/130/140. Downside is that most will know how good they are by now and they rarely come up for sale used. When they do...by god...they command serious money. Especially for a late model in the early...

    NEED Stern LIFT Prop Suggestions

Couple of things to add perhaps. The tempest is usually pretty good at lifting the bow and stern. I’ve got a couple and tried on two of my boats. But the main thing I’ve noticed is that they like as much rpm as possible. So you being about 400 rpm short of your rpm range means you have room to...

It defo kicks in at 6150 give or take. Assume the tachometer is a little off.

    1990 4 hp yamaha 2 stroke

Dont think it has a primer bulb. I’d assume it’s a built in tank.

    New Boat

Going by your 27 mph and 6200 rpm (which will actually be 6150 rpm limiter)...forget all the cupped prop stuff...get a 13” pitch black max on her. Will get you near the top of the rpm range and as good as sh will get.

Back to the carb and check diaphragm too I think. Obviously check you have the tank vent open too. Just in case.

    95 Mercruiser 3.0L 4Cyl to Diesel Swap?

It’s actually something that’s been done often over here. The Merc 3.0 and bmw 3.0 diesel have a very similar rpm range to the gm petrol engines like this. That’s why they are often used. There is a company that specialises in it here and make bell housing adapters to suit. Not sure it would be...

    1995 Volvo Penta 5.8 FSI

I didn’t suggest that to be fair. I agreed with you on that earlier. But if it was a GM Mpi...i said that would be different... earlier. Also notice I said that they had been replaced with a new generation of mpi Scott. Still stand by what I said earlier. But there will not be an issue getting...

    1995 Volvo Penta 5.8 FSI

The one that’s in most petrol boats from 2003-2010 ish or just after...of course 😂 Or the in house ones still currently coming out the factory in their thousands to present day..and dominating the V6 and short block v8 sector of all boats !

    Baystar steering

Huge torque steer at certain speeds (obviously I can nearly neutralise it with trim and more speed but that means about touching 30mph. I don’t often want to go that fast...and literally can’t go that fast in bad weather here. Most comfortable at early 20’s...right where the torque steer is from...
