    They ( CD and Fisherman ) all used the same impeller from about 1955 to 1978.----Then in the last year they used a different impeller and housing.----Now that newer 1979 set up can be fitted on a 1955 model.----So take it apart and see what is in there today !

    In your pictures the shift rods appear to be different at the top.----But if you and the motor are happy then all is good.

    Those magnetos are elegantly simple.----Used from 1950 to 1990 on 1.5 to 40 HP.----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on both leads , yes or no ?

    Did you change the shift rod ?-----Did you adjust the shift rod to the correct height , yes ,no or no idea what is involved here?

    You need to take a look at this carefully.-----When intake and exhaust ports are open.----The cylinder will have air in it.----When piston goes up the intake ports close.----Then the exhaust ports close.-----Then compression starts.-----You could throw carburetors and reed valve on the garage...

    Nope-----The reed valves and air going INTO the motor have nothing to do with compression in the cylinder !!

    The lower unit has nothing to do with the bulb collapsing.-----Check tank pick up tube.----Check tank vent.------Anti syphon valve.-----There is a restriction between bulb and fuel in the tank.-----What did you do to install the newer lower unit on your older motor?----Those newer lower units...

    Perhaps invest in a manual or politely ask how to test operation of the choke solenoid.----And the manual lever for the choke.

    One way or another you have to move it up and down to break up the rust that is holding the driveshaft !

    You should be able to do a spark test in the water.-----Test run with a timing light one cylinder at a time.------Observe spark behavior.----Use a strong flashlight and shine into carburetor bore at full throttle.----Observe behavior of fuel coming up the main nozzles.

    Do you know how far ( up to 400 miles or more ) it is to cross to Greenland ?----How much fuel can you carry ?----Prepared to possibly travel in the dark ??

    Are Force OBs as good as others?

    The FORCE outboards are simple and reliable.----One of the issues is that folks today have less mechanical aptitude.-----Outboards are neglected and dubbed as " JUNK " when simple things are overlooked.-----Look after a FORCE and it will run well and last.
